Casa Rural El Recanto — Hotel in Vega de Valcarce

I was expecting a basic Habitacion after a long day of hiking with a foot problem developing. The check-in is across the little road at the Panaderia, which is a lovely place to get something to eat, for coffee, and for very good dessert options. I was greeted warmly and shown to a room that I can only describe as a true sight for sore eyes. It was gorgeous - all ultra modern with an anteroom, a lounge/dining area with mini-kitchen and TV, a frosted sliding glass wall leading to the bedroom area and a sleek bathroom. Heaven. I borrowed some large scissors from the Panaderia, cut two strategic holes in my left shoe, ate at the family restaurant a few meters away and felt like a new woman in the morning. Highly recommended, and you can get a lovely breakfast in the pleasant cafe in the Panaderia. They also have a secure system for backpack transport - you leave your backpack in your locked...

My wife and I stayed here while doing the Camino on bicycles in May of 2022. We called ahead and reserved with Blanca. When we arrived there was no answer at the door but I should have remembered to go across (diagonally) the street to the and inquire. We checked in with Bianca who showed us the property and told us about the yard etc. We had a room on the ground floor. Very clean, cool and modern (Great shower / bathroom, modern TV and Wifi) and very quiet. Once we unloaded the bikes, Blanca showed us where we could store the bikes safely in a garage. As mentioned by others there is a store (and restaurants ) in town where one can by groceries. We ate breakfast at the bakery the following morning while sitting outside under the awning. We stayed at Blanca's early September, 4 Canadians. We had booked another place on Airbnb that was cold and damp and we were so unhappy. We were recommended to Casa Rural El Recanto and we fell in love. We immediately booked forgoing our other booking. (we did get money back) The rooms are amazingly well decorated and clean. Blanca is the perfect hostess. She has a bakery across the road that was delicious. She has wonderful washers where you clothes come out almost dry, and clothing lines to finish the job.
