This restored country house was used by our company for an overnight stop on the Camino de Invierno. On the downside it is quite a long way from the Camino but , as part of the stay, a free pick up and return to the Camino was included. This worked very efficiently. The house is mainly stone walls and wooden floorboards. Very atmospheric. There is ample parking for those driving. Set in a small garden which would be nice in clear weather. We had booked a twin room but were given a room each with a jack and Jill shower . This meant we had plenty of space as there was a separate entrance 'hallway' with wardrobes. Dinner was available on request which was simple and rustic. A lovely open fire was lit just for us. The meal was good value and , when we came to checkout, discovered the wine was free! In terms of the surrounding area it looks like there is some nice walking. It is set in a pretty hamlet and there was a restaurant ( not tried) about 300 metres away. There was also a nice riverside area with pool ( summer only) . Breakfast was continental but we were given very fresh eggs. Wifi workd well. Would recommend and would...
Read moreOur family stayed for five days recently. Casa Gori is steps away from the train station in Certaldo which was perfect for us. The host speaks no English but is incredibly charming with a broad smile and willingness to help even with our English versus Italian language barrier. ||When we were trying to figure out a bus route and stop, he dropped everything and walked us down the street pointing out signs and stops. When that was lost in translation, he arranged a car for us to take us on an excursion. It was more expensive then a bus trip but worth it.||The rooms are clean, simple and sparse but there is air conditioning, which was a selling point for us. A few things did go wrong (like when I got locked in the bathroom) but the host solved it by delivering bottles of wine to our room. ||Breakfast coupons were provided that got you a pastry and a cup of coffee. The rooms have refrigerators so we went to the grocery store and filled them with yogurt and fruit. ||All in all it was a pleasant (not perfect) stay and a good start to our...
Read moreI only had one night at this hotel. It was a charming house that has been converted into a guest house. Looks great from the outside, very compact. ||||My room was interesting. Been recently updated, but there were strange quirks, including the adjoining single bed room and the tiny shared bathroom between the two rooms. Also, there wasn't a clock or a tv and the walls were so thin that I heard the next door people talk and talk and talk all night and early in the morning. Also, the creaky floorboards from next door was discernable as well.||||As it was August, it was really hot but there wasn't either air conditioning or a fan to help with it.||||On the plus side, the coffee was...
