We got a family room for five and it was quite good. Far better than I expected.
The room was safe, clean and comfortable with good bedding and air conditioning. Not all rooms may be air conditioned.
The attached bathroom was also clean and well maintained with good running water.
There were plenty of plug sockets(majority square pin, and one round pin) around the beds and you can charge all your gear.
There was a clothes rack, and a table with a drawer.
Even though they don't provide WiFi, there are signal towers nearby and you can use mobile data just fine.
The staff was friendly and supportive. They are available 24x7 as the manager himself said.
Hoteliers speak English, Sinhala, and Tamil.
Extra tip 1: There is the village bazaar just a kilometer away and you can find food at a few restaurants. But, please expect the food be of normal quality and reasonable prices(cheap), since the town basically targets not tourists, but villagers.

Read moreIt is with great pleasure that I can recommend anyone who explores Mannar and Thaleimannar to stay at Beach View Hotel Pesalai. Area is calm and quiet, direct access to the beach. Fishing Wadis and fishermen are all around, nice, honest, and sincere people I found in Srilanka. There is no need to worry about robberies or theft. The best way to explore is to hire a Tuk-Tuk for one day, it cost approx 5000 Rs for my wife and myself. He took us in a narrow pathway to historical places. If you can communicate in Tamil, it is an advantage. Hotel owner, Mr. Roberts is a well educated, an engineer from Peradeniya uni, who knows very well the entire Mannar district, guided us to visit various places that are not found in Google or even in history books. Food is not provided at the hotel due to the non availability of Tourists, however there is a small restaurant nearby run by a local, and you can manage the day. Roof Top of the hotel gives a best view of the Sea during Sun set and Sun rise over...

No towel, no bedsheets. May be you could ask for those, but since we brought, we didn’t. bathroom was a little stinky, I guess the toilet pit had an issue. ||Hotel does not have a kitchen but the caretaker was willing to make food for you. However we had food from outside. Even in pesalai town, you don’t find many places to eat. ||Caretakers were very helpful and kind. But hardly understand Sinhala or English. We had a tamil speaking friend with us so we...
