Hi all,||||Hope all of you and your loved ones are keeping well in these unforeseen times.||This review i write is long due, and finally i take some time to put down my personal experience at the "Breeze Of Paradise".||||I have been to Sri lanka twice, once in 2019 and in the early 2020. On both trips i stayed at the Breeze of Paradise.||I was referred to this lovely place by a friend of mine. My stay was to be long and i was'nt into anything fancy for staying. Was looking at a affordable budget. As i was alone and had to see to a place not too far away from the city.||||AROUND THE PLACE...||||On my first visit in 2019, i was completely amazed by the set up, because of which in 2020 i simply went without considering elsewhere.||||Suresh and Kalha do a fabulous job in maintaining the place!!||||The place is located at Nuegegoda, not very far from the main city Colombo. Its easily reachable by Uber.||||The stay took me back to memories of my native house at Goa, India. Clean and well kept are all the rooms and the attached rest rooms.||The ambience is about a home away from home. The greenery around, human silence and earthly music of nature is a good relax and detox from the hectic city life. ||||There are four rooms of varying from single to 4 people occupancy. There is a lovely balcony located on the upper floor with a small tea porch, ideal for a breakfast morning or a sit out at night. On the upper floor you also have a lobby spot with a TV and a couch, ideal for reading or simply enjoying a meal over a good movie. The WiFi is great.||||I have stayed in two different rooms on both occasions. Simple , basic yet elegant Decent for an affordable stay. The climate can be cool at times and the need for an AC is seldom required.||||The interiors are very calming with a lot of local artifacts and various souvenirs placed all over. ||||Good eats are located at walk-able distances. If you are the type who can cook, you could utilize the kitchen with all the bare necessary essential utilities.||||A local market on Sunday one must visit to experience the local feel .There are Food marts all at walk able distances one can avail to do local grocery shopping.||||Suresh and Kalah are really good company and very helpful. Their work in maintaining the place is pure dedication. The local crab preparation by Kalah is a memory I cherish.||||The home-stay is true to its name and is filling in every aspect. One should consider it when looking at an experience away from the conventional hotel stay.||||Keep up the good work Suresh and Kalah !!! And may you be blessed in all that you en devour. Looking forward to normal times and future trips.||||Cheers...
Read moreAs an expatriate living abroad, this was the first time I stayed outside of relatives' houses while coming for a professional visit. At 'Breeze of Paradise' I was treated more than just a guest. I genuinely felt like family member while staying here. I did not expect this at all. The hosts are a lovely couple, both professionals who dedicate themselves to make all guests feel special.||||In term of specifics, the place is kept immaculately clean, and there is also a quality linen service which is run in-house. The bathrooms, showers, and toilets are all of modern day standards. There is also Air Conditioning and hot water. There is free WIFI internet connection. The location is also ideal, and depending on traffic is about 20-25 mins to the Airport (south direction) or heart of Colombo city (north direction). And even being within city limits, the place itself is located away from busy traffic and only walking distance to the main road which takes you straight to Colombo. Hence, supermarkets, restaurants and short dining is only a short walk away from the main road; but be prepared to skip a meal as you will likely be treated with a local dish in-house by the hosts while you are there. They also have a great kitchen with all modern day appliances such as microwaves and kettles.||||There is also great sense of peace and calmness staying here. I saw fireflies within their beautifully kept garden premises, which made the nights very pretty. ||||Here is my overall breakdown:||||Professionalism and service: 10/10||Location: 10/10||Cleanliness: 10/10||Bathroom facilities/hot water: 10/10 ||Kitchen facilities: 10/10||Costs: 10/10||||Overall: 10/10. If I was to come back to work in the same or near location, and if a room was still available, I would come back only here!||||This certainly is a Breeze...
Read moreHomestay in Colombo suburbs, hosted by a friendly Sri Lankan couple. Quiet location but there are a handful of local restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance. It's a 30 minute taxi ride to Colombo Fort. It's important to note that BoP is not a hotel and expectations should match this. There are no staff, and the hosts may not be able to respond to all requests. The rooms are basic but very clean; however, mattresses, pillows and blankets were a little lightweight for my liking. Fussy travellers should beware that the facilities are a little old; some light/fan switches and door knobs are broken, along with some cracks in the wall. If this doesn't bother you, then I think the accommodation is good value at about $20 per night. There are communal areas with internet tv, a dining room, a large kitchen, as well as a lovely garden. Suitable for those who want to cook for themselves or have small children to take care of. The owner brews delicious tea and can cook up a Sri Lankan...
