Eco Resort Kandy — Hotel in Sri Lanka

Sadly, I have to change my review from 5 stars a few years ago to 1 star today. We booked this hotel without checking reviews on bookings.com or anywhere as we had been to this hotel many times in the past. The management has changed. Rooms that were once beautiful are now disgusting. We booked a double room and were shocked to find LARGE damp patches of black coloured mould on the ceiling. The light (singular) was very dim, there were patches and hand marks on the walls and the bathroom still had someone's hair in it! Disgusted, we requested another room and had to get a triple room. We told them we'd be back at night. We came back to the hotel late at night ready for bed and headed to the "new' room. The only light was on the WALL at eye level. The AC didn't work, and the guy kept trying but to no avail. The bathroom was leaky, the ceiling was leaky, the stains on the wall, the random thick white stains on the cupboard, the insects on the floor, the whole thing was an experience I will never forget. So disappointed and appalled at what was once a beautiful, thriving little hotel. We had paid an advance, and not wanting to have to argue and have to stay at the place any longer, we paid the balance (full amount), took our bags and left to another nearby hotel which was much better for the same price range. Located within 5 miles of Kandy Museum, Nelinsa Kandy in Kandy.. Nice place to hang around with families.. You have BBQ facilities and access to a mini swimming pool.. Everyone who works there is very friendly and helpful and humble and polite.. They welcome warmly including locals and foreigners with a welcome drink.. Food is tasty and clean.. Rooms are upto standard and clean and tidy.. Rates are reasonable.. Privacy is well protected and since it is bit away from town, you'll get soundless and cool and quite place..
