Elegant Home Stay Ella — Hotel in Sri Lanka

I had never stayed in a homestay before but was blown away. The room was very clean and comfortable with a near new bathroom. I had only booked one night but immediately changed it to two.|I had a third floor room with balcony which was so relaxing to sit out and enjoy the view. Sadly there’s a construction site beginning to obscure the view but I still enjoyed it.|They brought me tea and treats every afternoon, the breakfast was the best I’ve had in Sri Lanka, and one afternoon a button broke off my top, the lovely host sewed it back on on the spot. She also organised me a tuk tuk to the coast at a reasonable price.|The location is up a long driveway so it’s nice and quiet. 5 min walk to the main restaurants and it’s on the way to little Adams peak.|Enjoyed the view of all the many different birds and animals - even saw a mongoose in their...

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER ! I cant review the stay as we never really got to stay there. The way to the homestay was very challenging and after we climbed the road with our heavy suitcases, the property lady said there is no room available and she gave our room to someone else. She was very rude and kept laughing at everything we said? After 2 nights at another accommodation, we went there again and she did give us a room but was charging us extra than the price listed on agoda for a room in which the bathroom door wasn’t even closing and wifi was not working. We left the property in a few hours as we would’ve rather found a new stay than being there. Had a late check in at Elegant Homestay. Owner was a kind nice lady always smiling. She offered a downstairs room which had a comfortable king size bed with mosquito net and a clean bathroom with hot water. No heater, no TV in the room. There is a building under construction front of the Elegant Homestay which blocks the view. For me I didn't mind as I wanted to go out early in the morning for site seeing. It was a good decision to have dinner at Elegant Homestay as the food was traditionally prepared by the owner and it was yummy indeed.
