I'd start off by saying I/we had an amazing stay at floating mountain villa (FMV). Im so glad I chose FMV as our holiday destination and I'd do that all over again. We were a group of 10 + a lil baby boy and the stay will be always a memorable one.. Leme list why:
Gowri, the owner.. Is super super helpful and was so welcoming. Im so glad the first villa we chose turned out to be owned by a very rude person who was not willing to help at all.....which eventually directed us towards gowri. Gowri is such an understanding villa owner, and trust me we have been to many villas and have never ever felt this comfortable... I kid you not.. Akila.. Everyone has spoken about him in the reviews and he is indeed one of the best employees any hotel/villa can have. He gave us a 5 star hotel experience in a villa (VERY REAR) and always willing to help. Gowri always speaks so high of him and eben calls him a blessing 😍. He would be one of the reasons we go back to the villa.. Not forgetting that he stayed up till abt 2 am thinking we might get hungry (after dinner) and i had to force him to end the day and had to give him a lecture in the morning 😅🤷🏾♀️. The cheff, Suranga ( i dnno wthr i got the name wrong) and uncle.. They were so helpful and always with a very genuine smile.. Our lil munchikin almost lost a pool ball and the cheff decided to go find it for us.. 🥰. Suranga insisted on ironed mine and my husbands clothes and uncle was always wiling to help even before we asked him to.... The villa.. Clean rooms with an amazing view. I was in Magnolia and the cinnamond air freshner, comfortable room, a balcony which opens to a diferent world. The kovil bell noice and the music from the kovil, in the background, with no doubt, complimented the Villa. The food. I cannot get over the soups we were served as the starter, chocolate mousse and the amazing home made icecream with nuts.. Im gonna get akila to get me a huge tub of that icecream for sure.😂😂😂...not forgetting thwe Unlimited tea, coffee and cookies...
I can go on and on.. But i dont think a few words will be sufficient. Dispite our busy schedule, if one goes outta the way and writes such a long review, it kinda explains how much this place has grown inside me.. I SIMPLY LOVED IT.. and so did my friends..
Cant wait to go back.. Soonn we shall 😍😍😍
PS: admist all the plusses the ONLY two minusses were that the road to the villa is a bit bumpy ( was a good 900m walk though with a beautiful view.. Worth the walk.. You can also park your vehicle near the main road and akila will come for the rescue as usual)..... and I was bitten by many bugs (usually the case when u spend outdoors. But make sure to take bug repelant/ or anything which keeps you away if u have...

A Hidden Gem in the Mountains!
Floating Mountain Villa is an absolute paradise! We stayed for two nights, and it was the perfect place to relax and unwind between the tea plantations. The peaceful atmosphere, breathtaking views, and top-notch hospitality made our stay truly special. The villa itself is beautifully designed, with spacious and spotless rooms that offer stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and lush greenery.
The service was exceptional—special thanks to Akila and the team for going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The in-house restaurant serves truly delicious meals, and we especially loved the rice and curry for dinner. While it was on the pricier side at around 4,800 rupees, the quality and flavors made it well worth it. Guests should note that there are no other dining options within walking distance, but the restaurant at the villa is excellent, so you won’t feel like you’re missing out.
For activities, there’s plenty to do! We enjoyed visiting the Glendoch Tea Factory, where we learned about tea production and sampled some amazing teas. The surrounding area also offers beautiful hikes through tea plantations and lush forests, perfect for nature lovers and adventure seekers. The villa’s location between Nuwara Eliya and Kandy makes it a great base for exploring both places, and you can also visit the Ambuluwa Tower for breathtaking panoramic views.
While the location is remote, adding to its charm, guests should note that the last 750 meters require a 4x4 vehicle. Thankfully, the villa provides a pick-up service, making the journey hassle-free.
If you’re looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway in the middle of Sri Lanka’s tea country, Floating Mountain Villa is the place to be. We can’t wait to return!
PS: We can totally recommend you the restaurant “Chill” - stunning views for sunset. But you’ll also have amazing sunset views from the hotel.
Would highly...
Read moreThis is the place where you want to come back for sure! We had the best experience at the Floating Mountain Villa. Starting from the very beginning the service was the best class! The villa’s manager Akila met us on the jeep to help reach to the property as the road is not the best for a regular car. We were greeted with flowers and welcome drinks and it felt like being home. Honestly, even the best hotels are way behind villa’s manager Mr. Akila who was supper attentive to every little detail, helped with advice and just made such a great company. He made our stay at the villa very special and I am super grateful for his help 🙏🏼 You can actually also do the tours with Akila and explore the area around. It was really sad to leave this place and I will definitely be back again! I would also mention the delicious food served there, very clean rooms, flowers everywhere and fantastic view from everywhere facing the sunset 🤍 And thank you to the villa’s owner Gowri who was in contact with us all the time to make sure we have everything...
