Funky Leopard Safari Lodge — Hotel in Sri Lanka

Stayed at the Funky Leopard Safari Hostel for 3 nights from 6th - 9th March 2020 and we loved it. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and convenient. Food was yummy and the portions were more than enough to make us leave the dinning table with a super stuffed tummy. Everything from a soup/fresh juice to dessert was included. ||The service was above anything we could've expected in a hostel. We experienced star class hospitality from the humble staff stationed in the premises. They were neat, caring and always available regardless of the time.||Mr. Saman Kumara, the hostel caretaker, was a star. He gave us the best service and stayed with us till 2am-3am everyday to ensure that we are attended to. Extremely flexible, humble and friendly. We're so thankful to him. We made a friend.||Mr. Saman Abeysinghe, the Camp Manager, is another reason for us to never hesitate coming back. Very professional, friendly and always went out of his way to make sure that we make the best memories in Yala.||Chef Maduranga, another fantastic asset in the property. He did the best BBQ for us. Food was super delicious. He made us eat twice as much as we'd usually eat. The food was awesome! ||Nadun, Prasadi and Manjula handled our reservation, effortlessly allowed us to extend it by one more night and made the whole experience hassle-free. We had the most amazing stay at Funky Leopard Safari Lodge for 2 nights with a full day Safari! The booking process was so easy and all the add ons (food, Safari, guide) were very clear! They accommodated our slightly later arrival time and prepared our dinner for arrival- the food was all 10/10, and catered so well for vegetarians! The variety was great and each meal had so many options that were all delicious, and the tea and coffee station for the morning and evening was a lovely touch :) the staff were all lovely asking how we were and so helpful always :) the room was clean and well equipped, it was great to have good aircon and hot water! The location itself was beautiful and so peaceful, with a lovely pool and a short drive from the National Park! For our Safari we had Himash as a guide and Samantha as a driver- they were both incredible at spotting the wildlife and answered literally every question we had! They made the day so fun and really went out of their way to make sure we had an incredible time :) the full day Safari ran really smoothly and was very well planned with food stops, we just had the best time! Our decision to reserve the entire property turned out to be a fantastic one, as our experience at this location surpassed all expectations. The staff's exceptional friendliness stood out, and what truly set them apart was their proactive approach, consistently staying ahead of our needs rather than simply reacting to them. Their humility, genuineness, and commitment to ethical service were truly commendable.

The culinary experience was nothing short of exceptional. Notably, they organized a delightful dinner amidst the garden's natural beauty, accentuated by a charming surprise lighting arrangement that added a touch of enchantment to the evening.

While our stay was nearly flawless, a few minor areas for improvement did surface. Updating the aging cutlery would undoubtedly elevate the dining experience. Additionally, attention to detail could extend to addressing the slight inconvenience posed by a functional yet jammed bathroom door.
