Handunkanda Nature Escape — Hotel in Sri Lanka

Handunkanda Eco Adventure Resort situated at Ayagama and I experienced a very different things blending with the nature. the outdoor natural swimming pool, rooms and food provided are well. Transport will be provide. from Ayagama as the road is a bit rough and transportation is provided by a cab as normal cars cannot travel. That trip was a bit of fun. Also, the guests were treated to a delicious beach drink that was unique to the area and the staff were very hospitable. The uniqueness of this room is that all the rooms are finished with rattan. Also, the rooms are beautifully arranged. The swimming pool is also unique and is filled with water in the middle of a natural rock. That water is also the water that comes naturally from the forest and is pure. Another unique thing is that once you enter that forest, you are completely eliminated from using mobile phones. Also, you can enjoy the beauty of the forest you want very well. There is also opportunity for adventure activities for all travelers if required. A well experienced retired instructor from Army Commando Regiment is handling this activities. We had a truly wonderful 3 night stay at the Handunkanda Eco Resort this september. From the minute we arrived we were blown away by the location, the decor, the staff and our room .there were 3 more groups who was having a hell of atime dancing and playing am sure they were having a great time thanks to handunkanda team! . We were celebrating our first anniversary so the intimacy of such a small boutique hotel was perfect and made it incredibly romantic. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The wonderful chef basically told us we could have whatever we wanted the eat but we took his lead and he came up with so many delicious creations of sri lankan plates. There are so many other delights to mention - with lorry rides , All activities / leadership programs ... and a memory that will stay with me forever is the night the lovely kumara created a candlelit dinner for us by the pool, complete with torches lining the path to our table - possibly the most romantic evening ever! Located in a state on top of mountains. You see some good views on the way. But views disappear at the venue. There’s a echo water pool by stream water. Pool built from cement, so you would get some scratches later, because you still enjoy it. No data signals, but you can find a place to get emergency call. They provide 4x4 transportation, if your vehicle not suitable for last 3Km. Food is ok. Bites better. Service is ok and friendly staff. Although the extra meal was 1500 per person, was overpriced. Was about 500 worth. Desert wasn’t great. More local fruits would be better. Rooms are clean, but smaller. Location seems not used for someone after covid, etc. So bit maintenance issues. You can do extra activities like tracking, swimming in the river, etc. Depending on your booking, there may be other guests. Can accommodate ~30-40 in the property. Overall, relax and nice stay with family. May be they lower the price a bit...
