Our family had a truly memorable stay at Hanthana Eco Lodge in last week. A oasis of tranquility & serenity at beautiful Hanthana hilltop. True to its words when they said “your gateway to nature, culture and adventure”. An overall aesthetic that surpasses what words and images presented. Couldn’t have chosen a better place since Hanthana Eco Lodge exceeded all our expectations. A perfect blend of nature, comfort and hospitality which is top-notch. And hats off to the amazing team of this wonderful place. Starting from Ms.Melanie, Mr.Nandana, Chef George, Mihiranga, guide Samantha. and the trainees-Didula and Nimesh. This whole thing made possible because of Ms.Melanie. She made the whole process so smooth from reservation to Check-out. She was constantly in communication, doing clarifications, helping us to make right choices and making arrangements to accommodate for my son’s special needs. From the moment we checked-in Mr.Nandana warmly welcomed us and ensured we felt comfortable throughout our stay. Most occasions he and his team went out of their way to cater our needs. And he constantly checked up on us to make sure we were enjoying our stay. We stayed at their Rocky Cove family room. Designed with a blend of eco living and modern comfort which is clean, spacious, and had all the amenities we needed. And our dining experience was truly exceptional. Full credit should go to Chef-George for brighting our taste buds with some awesome meals. Every dish was absolutely delicious and prepared fresh according to our personal request. And they have a wide variety of choices to select from. One of the highlights of the day was dining under artificial rain feature which was a unique experience in calm and cozy night. Following day we went for an unforgettable adventure trilling off-road jeep ride through the Hanthana jungle terrain with their experienced guide Samantha. One of the best experiences we had recently. Overall it was an amazing experience we had at Hanthana Eco Lodge. I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hanthana Eco Lodge over the weekend, and I can't help but wish I was still there. Located just 20 minutes away from the bustling city of Kandy, the lodge offers a dramatic change in ambiance, immersing you in a sanctuary of serenity and tranquility.

The adventure lodge exceeded my expectations in every aspect. Not only was it clean and luxurious, but it also provided well-equipped washrooms with hot showers and complimentary shower gels. Even if you happened to forget your toiletries (like I did), the lodge had you covered. Additionally, a beautiful small waterfall adjacent to the facility added to the charm, making it feel like an integral part of the property.

The common dining area, along with the three rooms, each with their own private balcony overlooking the mountains, offered breathtaking views, especially in the early morning. The food served by the skilled chef elevated the experience, making it a true indulgence in adventure eco-tourism. The lodge's pricing is currently economical, but I have a feeling it may change as word spreads, so I highly recommend enjoying this hidden gem before it becomes exclusive to the "Baller's Club."

A shower in the natural springs waterfall felt like a refreshing dip in the fountain of youth, as I mentioned to the management. The staff members were extremely hospitable, and their flexibility in catering to specific dietary preferences was commendable. The welcome drinks were fresh and invigorating, while the morning refreshments served on stone coffee tables and seats added a touch of elegance.

The lodge's remote location allows for the loudest party while still ensuring a peaceful night's sleep in complete silence. It's a place that deserves to be explored sooner rather than later. Our stay at Hanthana Eco Lodge was truly an unforgettable experience. This place is a hidden gem for anyone looking to relax and reconnect with nature. With only four lodges, it’s peaceful and quiet, making it perfect for a break from your busy life. We stayed in the wooden cabana, which was made entirely out of wood. It had a large, comfortable bed that could fit up to four people, two bean bags, and a lovely balcony where we could enjoy the view of the road below and the lush greenery around us.

One of the best parts of the lodge is the natural waterfall just a short walk away. There’s a pond under the waterfall where you can take a refreshing bath. Even though this wooden cabana didn’t have air conditioning, we didn’t need it at all because the cool breeze from the waterfall kept the place chilly, especially at night. The bathroom was clean and modern, with hot water and everything you’d need for a comfortable stay.

We chose the full-board package, and it was worth every rupee. When we arrived at 4pm, we were welcomed with a glass of fresh mango juice. Dinner was served outside under the stars, with soft lights creating a magical setting. We had pumpkin juice, fried rice, and fruit salad for dessert and everything was absolutely delicious. For lunch, we tried their Pot Biriyani, which was flavorful and filling. Every meal was prepared with care, and you could tell the chef knows his craft well.

For those who love exploring, the lodge is just 2 km from the Pekoe Trail Stage 1. This trail is famous for its stunning views and is a must-visit for nature lovers. We started our trek at 7am, but if you can start earlier, you’ll catch an incredible sunrise at the viewpoints. The lodge staff was very helpful and even packed our breakfast so we could enjoy it while trekking.
