Hotel Vihanga in Mahiyangana — Hotel in Sri Lanka

Not quite the luxury stay I was hoping for...

I recently stayed at this hotel and let's just say it wasn't exactly the five-star experience I was hoping for. Don't get me wrong, there were a few bright spots, but overall it was a bit of a letdown.

Let's start with the less-than-ideal: The sink was like a desert oasis, with not a drop of water to be found. The room smelled like it had been locked up in a time capsule since the 80s, complete with some seriously impressive spiderwebs. And those beds? Let's just say they were about as comfortable as sleeping on a pile of rocks covered in sandpaper. Oh, and there were no real blankets. But the worst part was the state of the bathroom, which was very dirty and clearly hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time.

But hey, it wasn't all bad! The room did have a fancy dimmable light, which made me feel like I was in some sort of fancy nightclub. And the fan worked great, which was a lifesaver since I was starting to sweat like a marathon runner.

All in all, while this hotel may not be everyone's cup of tea, it certainly had its...charms. Let's just say that if you're looking for an adventure, this might just be the place for you. But if you're looking for comfort, cleanliness, and basic amenities, you might want to keep searching.

I wasn't impressed with Hotel Vihanga. I wasn't expecting much, but the mattresses were thin and uncomfortable, I wasn't given a top sheet to give me some protection from the mosquitoes in my room, and the wifi wasnt working as promised online. They didn't seem to be expecting me despite my reservation. Communicating with the guy at reception in English was nearly impossible and they waited until I was getting into bed to insist that I pay for a more expensive room for my driver and guide. Most places i had visited seemed to have dorm rooms for drivers. I could see spending a 1000 or 1500 rupees on driver accomadation, but they wanted 3000 and didn't mention it until I was already heading to bed. It seemed like a scam to squeeze some more money out of me. Live and learn. To be honest the hotel and rooms were very clean, but it was the first time in 5 weeks of traveling in Sri Lanka that I felt like someone was trying to squeeze me for cash instead of being eager to...

I faced a very bad experience yesterday the 22nd of July 2024 I booked a family room in this hotel because we are from Colombo we didn't know this place and we visited the place for the first time because of the views it shows in the pictures I booked it but we faced the horrible experience ever after coming to the hotel in the night we didn't have any options to take the ac was not working properly the owner was not responding for that and even he didn't give a option to the problem he was there in the hotel even he didn't came to face us he sent one of the staff to tell us the other room rates and it was so high in prices that doesn't match the price to a night stay how ever I am taking my time to share this experience to the people to know how is this place before facing this type of unexpected experience we changed are all planning of this problem be careful to the people who are...
