We turned up late morning without a booking and were given a pleasant room with balcony, but this area is known as “Little England” because it tends to be damp and chilly! There was no heating in the room and the ceiling was very high so any warmth went up to the roof! There was an extra blanket provided but we were still cold. We were kept awake most of the night by the incessant barking of feral dogs. ||I asked if the hotel could do our laundry, but I was told that they did not offer that service (how do they launder their own linen?). We asked to book dinner, but were told that the restaurant was closed. If I had known this at the time of booking we wouldn’t have stayed! They eventually told us that the restaurant would be open for that evening, however their menu offered only Chinese food (which was nice enough), no dessert and no alcohol. This consisted of a hard-boiled egg, a small carton of chocolate milk, a small white bread sandwich with indeterminate filling and a slightly dry, plain fairy cake. Yuk. On returning to the hotel mid-afternoon we discovered that our room hadn’t been made up. There were only 3 rooms occupied so no excuse for that I think. We asked for breakfast at 7am the next day but were told they wouldn’t serve us before 8am. I would not stay...

So just to get to it is a daunting task for the driver.|We were given a nice big room with a nice view of Gregory Lake. The problem was that the room was on the side of the hotel that never saw the sun so the room was cold and damp. We had expected it to be cool at night but by 7pm we were shivering. We asked the manager of we could have a heater and he informed us that we could hire one at 1,500 rupees per day. OUTRAGIOUS.|Because the hotel was a good mile out of town as well as up the twisty steep lane we eat in. The food served was reasonable.|We were booked it for 2 nights but phoned or travel agent and cancelled the...
