Difficult review to write because the owners are extremely friendly and helpful but there were some things inherent in the property that made our stay less than comfortable. We arrived at 11pm - far past a reasonable time to check-in - due to troubles on the road and had to wake the owners up with a phone call. Yet we were warmly received and their only concern was that we must be tired and in need of rest. The next day, we wanted to do the hike to Ella Rock but would not have enough time to be back before the check-out time - the owners told us not to worry and to just go for the hike and check out at whatever time we returned. Some of this certainly had to do with the fact that this was not exactly high season, but that does not take away from the generosity and kindness of the owners.
Unfortunately, the location of the hotel also means that as early as 6am there will be noise from the road and from trains passing on the nearby railway tracks. Read moreI stayed here five days. Living in nature with a caring family was the experience I had. The employees were extra wonderful and attentive. They always prepared meals the way I wanted it and always on time and absolutely delicious. I ate all my meals there and didn't bother eating outside because it was so good. Great sumptuous breakfast to order each morning. The room was spacious, with a beautiful balcony and an amazing view of verdure. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of pillows to make it very cozy. The bed has mosquito nets to keep you from bugs. There were many bugs. I had the doors shut between 5-7 pm and that helped. The bathroom had everything I needed for comfort. The hotel arranged all my tours every day and they were extremely personalized and excellent for a...
Read moreA lovely boutique hotel in a peaceful location but just 5 minutes walk from the railway station and restaurants. Set on a hill with fabulous views from our balcony and the restaurant, we loved watching birds and other wildlife while sipping a cold beer. Our room was clean, well equipped and comfortable with a modern bathroom. The breakfasts were very good. We enjoyed chatting to Kurt, the owner, who was very friendly and helpful with local information and arranging transport. |If you are looking for a quiet and beautiful location within a short distance of the hustle and bustle of Ella's main street, Lakshmis Hotel is perfect.|Note, the hill is quite steep and might not suit people with mobility problems but we're in our 60s and managed fine - with the added bonus of...
