A great stay in Sigirya! This newly opened cabana stay is a great option if you are visiting this little town.
The location is awesome. It’s close to the lion rock and other attractions nearby.
As for the cabana, they are new and quite simple, while having (nearly) everything you need. Inside the cabana you have some stairs to the loft of the cabana, which could be improved with some seats or sofa to have a nice seating area. Of course, this is just a ‘nice to have’ improvement. The bed is a little bit on the short side, but way softer than most other asian beds.
The host, Gamini, and his employee make you feel like you are at home in Sri Lanka. They help you with pretty much any request you have. Gamini is very well spoken in English, which helps a lot to arrange things nearby, like a safari. Also, it helps with your travels along the way- like a long transfer from and to the airport.
Another big plus for this stay is the pool. It’s great to cool down after a hot morning hike or an awesome safari.
Overall, I highly recommend staying here while in Sigirya. Especially when starting or ending your travels...
Read moreWe had a great stay at Lion King Jungle Cabanas. The area is just stunning - quiet and surrounded by nature and a good distance from the sights and main streets. The room is super comfortable and clean - as is the pool. Gamini and Ajith are so friendly and welcoming - we felt like we were at home and they helped organise our tuk tuk for trips, the elephant safari and a driver to and from Sigiriya with equally lovely and friendly locals. (We recommend asking for Chaminda for Tuk Tuk, he was great) The food here is outstanding, we chose to have Sri Lankan and it was delicious, fresh and full of flavour - but they also offer Italian as Gamini lived there for some time. A really special place in Sigiriya - Thankyou again...
Read moreFantastic place to stay, ideally located for Sigiriya and Pidurangula Rock (we walked to both, but you could tuk tuk if you prefer).
Lovely pool, peaceful location surrounded by greenery, comfortable beds, lovely and extremely helpful hosts.
The unexpected highlight of the stay? The food. By far the best breakfast we’ve had in Sri Lanka (been here 5 weeks).
We had absolutely delicious pasta for dinner and lunch (the host Gamini has lived over 20 years of his life in Italy), and we’ve not had a better dhal curry the whole time we’ve been here! We still talk about it wistfully.
We stayed 3 nights and loved every minute....
