Lion Wood Treehouse — Hotel in Sri Lanka

This lodge is truly unique with its charming wooden cabins surrounded by open fields and greenery. You can enjoy a direct view of Lion Rock, and it’s not uncommon to spot peacocks and hornbills roaming nearby, adding to the wild and natural atmosphere.

The owner strikes the perfect balance between being welcoming and respectful of our space. He was incredibly kind and helpful—on one rainy evening, he noticed us returning and quietly brought over an umbrella without us even asking.

The breakfast was abundant and delicious, featuring authentic Sri Lankan dishes like Sri Lankan-style omelets and pol (coconut pancakes), which we thoroughly enjoyed.

One thing to be mindful of is the presence of mosquitoes in the wooden cabins, which is expected given the lodge’s rural location. It’s not the lodge’s fault, and bringing your own mosquito coils or repellents can easily solve this.

At Lion Treehouse we had the greatest stay here in Sri Lanka. It was the best accomodation we had with a fantastic value for money and also a phenomenal view at Lionsrock. The host were so kind, friendly and very obliging, they also gave us lots of recommendations for trips at Sigeriya, Dambulla and Polonnaruva, they also cared about a safari to Minneriya NP. The treehouse has a beautiful interior with passion for detail, espescially it is a matter of a completely new hostel, only three months ago, it was built here. Every morning we got an amazing singhalese breakfast, which was very rich and delicious. We had the most amazing stay in the treehouse! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Our host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The treehouse itself was absolutely stunning—cozy, peaceful, and with breathtaking views of nature all around.

A huge highlight of our stay was the delicious breakfast prepared by his wife. It was clear that she put a lot of care and love into every dish. Fresh, flavorful, and the perfect start to our day!
