Mansala Safari House in Udawalawe is a remarkable accommodation option for travelers seeking a blend of comfort, authentic Sri Lankan hospitality, and proximity to wildlife adventures.

The rooms are well-appointed, spacious, and thoughtfully designed, providing a cozy and relaxing environment. Waking up to the sights and sounds of nature and enjoying breakfast with views of the surrounding greenery adds to the overall experience.

What truly distinguishes Mansala Safari House is the warmth and attentiveness of the host, his wife, and their children. From the moment of arrival, guests are made to feel like part of the family, with personalized recommendations, engaging conversation, and a genuine commitment to ensuring a memorable stay.

The culinary experience is outstanding. We enjoyed delicious home-cooked meals, prepared with care and using fresh ingredients. Of particular note is the butter cake - best we ever had !!

The safari experience organized by the host is professional and highly rewarding. Knowledgeable guides provide insightful commentary, and guests have excellent opportunities to observe elephants, buffaloes, and a variety of bird species in their natural habitat.

Overall, Mansala Safari House combines excellent accommodation, heartfelt family hospitality, superb home-cooked cuisine, and convenient access to Udawalawe National Park. It is highly recommended for families, couples, and solo travelers seeking an authentic and memorable...

Mansala Safari House is just perfect. The rooms are beautiful, really good quality and spotlessly clean. Each room has a private veranda and it is so lovely to sit there on an evening listening the relaxing music, surrounded by palm trees and the sounds of nature. The owner Tiron and his family have got it exactly right, they are very welcoming whilst still giving you privacy. Tirons wife is a fantastic cook and they can arrange breakfast and dinner for you if you ask. Tiron is also able to arrange anything you need such as transport and of course safaris. Tiron uses 2 experienced safari guides, I had 3 private safaris with Nadeera and he was excellent, very quiet and respectful of the animals whilst delivering an outstanding experience for you. I could not believe the amount of elephants, monkeys, crocodiles and other endemic animals, as well as so many beautiful coloured birds. It is very reasonably priced too. Tiron sees you off at 0545 or 1400 supplying binoculars and water and is waiting for you on your return to make sure you have had an amazing experience. I cannot fault Mansala Safari House at all. I am travelling Sri Lanka alone and have felt very safe and happy here. It is the nicest place I have stayed in Sri Lanka and I do not want to leave! If you are staying anywhere in Sri Lanka THIS is the place to stay and it is...

Deserves all 5 star 🌟 rating, totally amazing place, loved every minute of pur stay, only wish we had booked longer. |From the moment we pulled up to the lodge and were welcomed with a handshake and a great smile from Tiron. ||The place really does look like a Safari Lodge , standing as it is in the Jungle. ||We were given a huge room with 2 king sized beds - air conditioning- tea & coffee making facilities - large bathroom, we even had a private terrace & balcony with tables & chairs. ||Woke early and had cup of tea on the terrace. Beautifully quiet and peaceful with only birdsong to be heard , and a squirrel scampering around on the roof. Absolutely stunning place.||Tiron the manager/ proprietor arranged a safari trip for us. It was faultless, picked up at hotel on time by one of the hotel’s own vehicles. Very comfortable and we had it to ourselves. Friendly and knowledgeable driver / guide. ||We had a fabulous evening meal at the Lodge , home cooked Sri Lankan food served buffet style. Large variety of menu items all freshly cooked and hot .Absolutely delicious. ||The breakfast that was included and was also extremely good. Plenty to choose from - lovely Ceylon Tea . |Really enjoyed our stay there. Wonderful value for money- charming hosts and excellent hospitality. |Highly...

We were looked after like family, the Grandmother & wife cooked local delicacies for breakfast, supper and an unbelievable safari lunch. Our favourite was the eggplant, pineapple & 🌶️ curry & the Dhal was out of this world! The room was modern, clean and well air conditioned. We ate on a patio overlooking the front garden and watched a family of Mongoose stroll by on patrol 😂. T Uncle feeds a family of Hornbills that you can watch from your room balcony. It was a genuine, Sri Lankan family experience which will stay with us for a long time. The safari they organised was very well run and we were lucky enough to see some wonderful birds (so many Kingfishers!), elephants for my daughters, insects, lizards, water buffalo, crocs, epic Banyan trees & as mentioned a wonderful mid day lunch by a river. We came from a 5 star hotel on Mawella Beach which was wonderful but in a different way. Mansala made us feel at ease, at home and really part of a Sri Lankan family.

Our stay at Mansala was wonderful. The food was made with thought and care, what was offered was always beyond what we even expected. There was never an empty space on the table it was always filled with delicious Sri Lankan treats and even western style to suite any pallet. The level of service was fantastic - typical of the people of Sri Lanka. The property itself is beautiful and there is plenty of space for kids to run and play. There was also wonderful wildlife just at your doorstep to enjoy! Organizing the safari was also a breeze. The centre of Udawalawa itself is a bustling melting pot of all kids of food, clothing, textiles and services. So if exploring is your thing then I highly recommend getting out there and discovering what the town has to offer. Mansala is a seamless, thoughtful, caring family run operation and I would not hesitate to recommend Mansala!
