Wow. Where do I even begin?
We arrived at the hotel and were greeted by friendly staff who proudly introduced the place as an “eco-vegan-feminist hotel.” While the check-in was polite, it felt rushed as we were pushed to pay the full amount upfront—before even seeing the room. For a hotel that costs more than twice as much as others in the area, this didn’t inspire confidence.
The room itself technically matched the advertised features, but the reality was far from the photos. The bathtub was unusable, and the beach was littered with trash. Shortly after paying, we were informed that both the restaurant and bar were closed for a “special event.” Later that night, when we returned with food and asked for cutlery, a security guard told us we couldn’t have any because the staff were busy with a private party.
The experience went downhill fast. Towels weren’t replaced, there was no cleaning service, and we were given only two small bottles of water for our entire stay. Mold was visible on the walls, the air conditioning leaked water, and the trash wasn’t removed unless we explicitly asked—and even then, I ended up taking it out myself. These are basic services that should be a given at any hotel, let alone one charging this much.
The overall impression is that the hotel is managed by someone completely disconnected from what’s happening on the ground. The lack of professionalism and care from staff reflects poor leadership and oversight. It feels like the owner is more focused on profit than on delivering an experience worth the price. This isn’t just a bad stay—it’s a sign of fundamental mismanagement.
After voicing our concerns, the staff offered a complimentary massage for one person as compensation. While it was a small gesture, it came nowhere near addressing the sheer scale of issues. It almost felt like a way to brush off legitimate complaints.
To the owner or manager: This hotel has potential, but you are failing your guests and your staff by allowing it to operate in such a state. It’s your responsibility to ensure cleanliness, professionalism, and basic hospitality, all of which are sorely lacking. You should spend time at the property yourself to see what your paying guests are enduring. At this rate, it’s hard to imagine the hotel will survive much longer unless major changes are made.
I cannot recommend this place until these issues are resolved—and frankly, I’m skeptical they will be without significant intervention from management. Disappointing doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Read moreI regret to say that my stay at this hotel in Midigama, Sri Lanka, was a highly disappointing experience, and I would strongly recommend potential guests to look elsewhere. While the price per night is on par with European hotel rates, the overall experience did not come close to justifying this cost.
Upon arrival, my towels were not ready, and I was informed they would be delivered once clean towels arrived. However, they weren’t brought to my room until late in the evening after I had to specifically request them. To make matters worse, the next day, the room wasn’t cleaned at all. It took another request for housekeeping to finally attend to the room.
The situation with the sliding door was another issue. When I tried to open it, it was extremely stiff, and the handle broke off in my hand. I had to call the reception to have it fixed, and for the rest of the day, the room had a strong smell of glue. Adding to my frustration, the room was plagued with ants—there were even ants in the bed, which made the stay very uncomfortable.
The hotel is quite isolated, with no nearby amenities, so it’s only really suitable for those who don’t need easy access to transportation. It’s far from both Ahangama and Weligama, and there’s nothing around the hotel, which makes it inconvenient for guests wanting to explore the area.
Another issue to be aware of is the lack of ATMs in Midigama. Make sure to bring enough cash because if you choose to pay by card, they apply an additional surcharge to cover transaction fees—something that I did not encounter at any of the other hotels I stayed at in SriLanka.
During my stay there were múltiple maintaince work and the place was busy/ noises even early in the morning.
Furthermore, the number of sunbeds available at the hotel is nowhere near enough for the number of guests. If you arrive late to the pool or beach, you’ll find that all sunbeds are already occupied.
The only positive aspect of this hotel was the staff—they were friendly and helpful, but unfortunately, this does not make up for the numerous issues I faced during my stay. Based on the condition of the hotel and the lack of attention to guest comfort, I do not believe the price paid was at...
Read moreDear value reader of this review, I believe you are seduced by the lovely pictures you are seeing across internet about this place. But we need to tell you the truth, once you come here, you will feel ripped off. This is the most lousiest place in entire Sri Lanka and except the kindness of the local employees this place is not offering absolutely anything for 200+ euro a night. First impression is when you arrive at the reception and they tell you that the fountain behind reception is actually a pool for the guest of the hotel. Next is when you arrive to the room and see this decoration above every door with the rusty ac. Then you enter the room which is not cooled, you see the ac working and you think, ok they just turned it on, but the temperature is the same always in the room because ac is strong enough to cool only the area in front of the door. Next thing is the small room, no closet, cupboard, wardrobe or anything that you can put staff from your bag, apart from leaving it in that same bag and take one by one peace whatever you need. Place is charging 200+ euros/dollars for a night, and there is no fridge aaaaaaand, no coffee (didn’t experience that even in in 40e a night rooms). Lets talk about the bed, if you are coughing, you will have special effects. But its very important that everything is eco friendly. SO MUCH DISSAPPINTED. Doors are not isolating the noise from both sides, beach and the street at all and being 10 meters away from the waves and the street makes you not sleeping 70 percent of the night cause the sound is like the airplane is in the room.
