Located at the height of 1760 meters near the ever-beautiful Ohiya Station, Ohiya Jungle Resort is one of the best budget resorts in the Horton plains area. Not a luxury kind of place but definitely a worthy place for a peaceful stay. Down-to-earth friendly and supportive staff. They have around 5 rooms to cater to families and groups. Down layer especially for double room family area. The upper compartment is for group stays. Washrooms are clean and equipped with hot water. But sometimes it gets interrupted due to an unsteady power supply. Owner of this place Kumara is a very nice person. Very humble and supportive. He does provide a Tuk Tuk facility to pick you up from the Ohiya Station and also can negotiate and take it to Horton Plains. The food is very nice. Especially the traditional rotti and curries. Highly recommend this place if you're going for leopard and photography.

This is the best place to stay if you are expecting to visit horton plains national park, kirigalpoththa & thotupola kanda areas. The ambience and the environment sorrouding this place is stunning and more than any thing this place is owned by very genuine and kind hearted people. it was a great pleasure that ive choosed this place among all the guest houses and homestays in ohiya area. The foods serves to us at this place is the best ,and most importantly its the organic garden fresh stuff grown by the owners of this place and thise were the teastiest and healthiest foods similar to which we consume at our own home. I truely reccomend this place for any local and most importantly for forein visitors who visits horton plans national park, pekoe trail, kirigalpoththa and thotupola kanda areas etc.

The resort is 1.5 km away from Ohiya station. Our room was sufficient for six people, with an attached bathroom with hot water shower. Bed covers were provided along with pillows, but no towels. Rotty, string hoppers, deviled chicken, tea, and beer made our tummies full. Room fee is 1200 per person, including tea. For 5of us Rs. 18,000 /- including room, dinner, breakfast, beer.

Safe place to stay. Place is good and clean with comparing to price rhey offer. We took a one room for 8000 for 8 persons. Location is super. Food also so srilankan. Morning we had pol roti and it was awesome. As lunch we had rice and curries and there was a super spicy chicken curry. So for me food serving here is better. Rooms also good with comparing to the price. For cooking they are getting help from few outside ladies it seems. Toilet papers soaps and towels were not added in attched bathroom. Hot water included. There is a separate bathroom in down apart form the attached bthrooms. Thats better and newly build than attached ones. Blankets were there with beds. Room is cleaned and beds are comfy to me. They have facility to arranged a campfire as well at night. With that they can prepare a BBQ as well. We gave them seasoning packets and they prepared the chicken For BBQ. In here there is a bar included. Its run separately. Few people come and have beers.

FEW THINGS TO HIGHLIGHT

PLEASE CALL TWICE AND CONFIRM THE DATES THAT YOU ARE GOING TO STAY

DO ALL THE CONVERSATION ONLY VIA NORMAL GSM CALLS, NOT WHATSAPP. CLARIFY ALL THE ROOM CHARGES FOOD PRICES BEFORE BOOKING THRU CALLS. KEEP ALL THE CALL RECORDINGS WITH YOU. Because some times they are like to increase the discussed prices by 100, 200 rupees during the final bill preparation. In that case we have call recordings and we are safe. Thats the only issue i faced. Thats because place is managed by a other lady and she is not much staying in the place. Therefore communication is not properly handling with people in the kitchen, watcher and owner lady. Yes thats not the accepted behavior. But I am not taking that behavior as a very serious problem. Because this area is quite rural. No sufficiant transfort food available or even people. Therefore this is their living way to make their life better. Since prices they offering are very cheap, i dont think that it is a big thing to worry. Actually staff is less. However most of them are friendly. If u have any issues directly call that owner lady.

Parking area is avilable for free. Once u r in ohiya station, u can directly come down to the hotel by using stairs and footpaths thru jungle. Using road may...

I feel very conflicted writing this review, but here it goes. ||I arrived late into the night and was met graciously, with much hospitality and kindness, especially by the women. I ate delicious food and relaxed after a very long and stressful day of travel. I befriended and older guy there. When I went to bed I was awoken to persistent knocking on my door from this guy. As a solo female traveler in the middle of nowhere at night(or anytime) this is scary. This is also why I am choosing to write the review rather than talk to them about it. The guy is very nice and I think has good intentions, but in the end it doesn't matter. I was scared to go back to bed. ||Furthermore, it became increasingly evident that the men abuse their very sweet dog. It was heartbreaking to watch.||Again, they were nice to me, and they deserve financial income. But there are some serious issues and if you don't enjoy watching dog abuse I do not recommend this place. ||I will say, I also got bit by spiders(?) in my sleep, and the bathroom (however clean) smells like sewage which can be very dangerous for your health. I have a sore throat which is likely a response to this. ||I was raised as a woman, and am way too polite for my own good. I also don't want to come off as a judgemental foreigner. I don't write reviews, but these two things made it necessary to do so and I really hope the owner learns to be kind to animals as ALL creatures on this earth deserve love, patience,...

A Nightmare Stay – 1/5 Stars is Overly Generous If I could give zero stars, I would. I've stayed at various bungalows in my lifetime, and this experience takes the cake for the worst. Where do I even begin? The food had absolutely zero taste. It's as if the chef never heard of spices or seasoning. The owner and staff were appallingly unprofessional and seemed completely disinterested in addressing any issues we raised.

To add insult to injury, they had the audacity to overcharge us for EVERYTHING. When we arrived, they informed us the vehicle they'd promised us was 'broken' and tried to cram 8 of us into a 4-seater jeep. And don't even get me started on the BBQ; 9,000 rupees for just 3kg of chicken? The entire experience was a rip-off.

The rooms and bathrooms were so dirty we had to ask them to clean it. Save yourself the headache and money; sleeping on the road would be a far better option than...
