We had the most wonderful 4 night stay at Srinath's homestay (we didn't want to leave!). Srinath and his entire family are all so very kind. His father met us on arrival and welcomed us like family friends (he is helpful beyond comprehension, and you will often see him working around the guesthouse – serving food, cleaning, and doing whatever he can to please the guests – he's amazing!). Srinath met us in the evening and gave us lots of helpful information (he speaks perfect English!). The homestay is really beautiful – spotlessly clean, thoughtfully designed and stylishly decorated. The tropical garden is paradise, and the verandah has hammocks and reclining chairs for relaxing in. You may even see wildlife wandering through the garden, and you can easily hear the sound of the ocean (there once would have been a good view too, but some new building works have blocked most of it – there's still a bit of a glimpse!). The homestay is a separate building from the family home (it's at the back of the property and slightly elevated). Srinath's wife or mother prepare the delicious breakfast and dinner (we recommend the rice and curry with fish for dinner). The very beautiful Hiriketiya Beach is an easy 5-10 minutes walk from the homestay. Dikwella township and beach are another 5 minutes in the same direction. The Island Beach (also beautiful) is 5-10 minutes walk in the opposite direction (make sure you walk onto the island – it's spectacular!). Srinath arranged reliable (and good price) transport for our arrival and onward travel. All communication with Srinath was answered promptly. Overall, a fantastic stay and we highly recommend to others. We hope we can visit...
Read moreHard to describe this place, is basically everything you don't want to have while staying in Hiriketiya. Bad location and access roads, rooms are very dark, breakfast is poor, owner is greedy and all the rooms are overpriced. At first, we got a message from the owner asking to cancel the reservation on Booking to get a 10% discount, as we did. When we arrive and saw the property we immediately wanted to leave, but we ended up staying for a couple of nights cause we had no other option available at the time. After that, we spoke to the owner that our 20 days stay would not happen and he got furious and ofensive, saying that we were "cheating him" and that "we would have to pay 1 more night because that is policy of the house or he would call the Police", even though we had another place booked and paid already to pass the remaining nights of our stay. We said "please call the police" and he backed off, obviously. We paid him the nights we stayed, without any discounts. He shout at us, in a very intense and physical way, asking us if we didn't had enough money to pay for one more night. It was shocking and scary. He followed by kicking the trash can to the garden and left with the money. For anyone thinking about coming here, think twice. For the same price you can have rooms with natural light, private balcony and AC, rooms that are prepared with care by good and welcoming Sri Lankan people.
This is not a fake review as the owner replied! I have no business interests in Sri Lanka nor any reason to hurt a...
Read moreI recently stayed at Peak House in Matara and had a fantastic experience. The apartment is newly built, and the rooms are luxurious, clean, and comfortable. The owner is incredibly kind and made sure we felt right at home throughout our stay. The apartment offers great privacy, and the security is excellent, which gave us peace of mind. There's ample parking available, and the rooms come equipped with everything you need, including a refrigerator, air conditioning, and hot water. We also loved that we could cook our own meals, which made it feel like a home away from home. The beds were super comfortable, making for a great night's sleep after exploring the nearby areas. The beach is just 1 km away, making the location ideal for a relaxing getaway. The service was excellent, and I highly recommend Peak House for anyone looking for a great place to...
