Shiny Lakeside Resort — Hotel in Sri Lanka

I recently enjoyed the dinner buffet at Shiny Lakeside Resort, and overall, it was a wonderful experience. The buffet featured amazing dishes that tasted like home-cooked meals, with no artificial flavors—definitely a highlight. The lake and floating dining areas added a unique charm to the evening.

However, my experience started off on a less positive note with the welcome drink, which felt uninviting and gave a bad impression. Thankfully, the buffet and the fresh fruits for dessert made up for it. At 1890 LKR per person, which includes pool access, it felt like a great deal.

There was a DJ playing music, and I really enjoyed dancing after a long time; it added to the fun atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service left something to be desired. With around 30 diners and only one waiter serving water, I waited 25 minutes for my request to be fulfilled. I strongly recommend adding an extra waiter for busy buffet events to improve the service.

Another downside was the lack of alcohol—no beers available, which was disappointing, especially for a gathering with friends. They didn’t mention a BYOB option either, which felt like a missed opportunity.

Despite these issues, the overall dinner buffet experience was enjoyable, and I would recommend it to others looking for a pleasant...

Amazing experience Shiny Lake Resort!!

First of all , food was very good. Brought right to our room's doorstep by the amazing staff. The bouffet tasted so good and was worth the price. In my opinion best All-you-can-eat bouffet ever!!

The staff service is also very good. Kind and helpful staff at Shiny Lake Resort.

Very kid friendly resort actually. It is a very safe place if you go with kids. It's also an amazing experience for them as the place is very naturistic. This place is actually a very eco-friendly resort with its very own nature walk area.

The location is also very peaceful and calm. Probably the best place to go to if you want to relax.

Awesome and very safe pool area here. Very clean and safe.

Surrounded by water this place actually has a cool atmosphere and the floating rooms are a great experience.

All the snake and scorpion rumors are just false. They arent real at all. This place is actually very safe!!

Overall, this is a great place to go to enjoy a calm and peaceful holiday.

We stayed one night in December vacation. Manager was helpful, but his coordination is not much fair. Mostly the kitchen crew do not coordinate with him. For example bed tea was supposed to send to the rooms (All the rooms except cabanas at the river booked by our team) and this fact confirmed by the manager. But kitchen crew did not follow this and we all had to go to the restaurant (little bit far from most of the rooms) with night dresses.||Rooms are small but include average facilities. ||Pool is small and cant swim properly due to the size||Restaurant location and food are perfect. It is a nice experience that having a meal on a boat. Restaurant is located to get that feeling.||Boat ride is nice and the only bad thing on this is the nasty kerosene smoke exhausted by the engine. Even meals can be arranged to get within the boat ride which is a nice option to visitors.||Staff is very friendly and they dd not disturbed us even we sing songs at the restaurant till mid night.||Recommend to visit this place who do not except 5 star facilities.
