Thalduwa Island Villas — Hotel in Sri Lanka

Unsafe and unsupportive. Money stolen from bag while dining or while asleep . We had dinner in Karmel villa which is adjoining and slept here so it uncertain where the actual theft occurred . Safe didn't function so maybe it was planned. Manager responds aggressively saying " go to police " . More upset about response of management than actual theft .

Also Sameera the manager threatened to stab our driver which was extremely distressing .

Thank you for responding and continuing to blame us for your lack in providing us with adequate security. The safe you provided did not work and we thought keeping cash in out bag would suffice given the level of your institution . Clearly we were wrong in this aspect . As for you being inconvenienced by us leaving early we find this a ridiculous statement . What about the inconvenience we faced by having to leave a day early from your crooked institition and have to go home a day early? We tried to find another place but given the long weekend we couldn't find a suitable place and had to go home . My boyfriend and I stayed in one of the suites at Karmel Villa for 4 nights and enjoyed every minute. The villa is in the jungle surrounded by greenery and wildlife. We saw monkeys,lizards and birds whilst swimming and relaxing by the beautiful pool. ||||The staff were incredibly warm and friendly and couldn't do enough to help. We hired a moped from them costing less than $5 a day which I would highly recommend as it's an inexpensive and fun way to explore Ahangama, Midigama,Weligama & Mirissa ( and beyond). There are also plenty of tuktuks in the area to take you to the beach and ||||We had an amazing Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner every day. As vegans we were prepared for there to not be much of a variety of food available to us but we enjoyed the daal with chutney,vegetables, sambol and rice so much it wasn't an issue. We went on a family vacation to this place, with booking for 2 villas. Few hours in to our stay while having dinner, we were robbed a substantial amount of money. When we complained to the manager, he was in denial of such things that will ever happen in this place. He was arrogant and non responsive to such complaints. We could not stay there any more fearing that we would be robbed again and left. Then the manager and the staff provoked the local thugs in the area and blocked our roads, threatened our driver that they would stab if we try to leave. Somehow we managed to leave and immediately complained to Ahangama police of this incident.
