Plains green was an experience beyond the horizons. They gave us a warm welcome. Check in took a moment and meanwhile we had the time to experience the environment. We could look in to the central hills with misty clouds for hours. It was a next level experience. We could see ambewela windmills too. The room was modest and the view was spectacular. There were room heaters and bed heaters. Hot water was adequately hot. But I almost spent the time outside experiencing the cold weather. It was about 15 celcious in outside. Wind was strong at night, but we had a peaceful sleep. The morning was so beautiful with mist everywhere and little by little we could see the hills. We could see thotupola kanda, kirigalpotta kanda, sri pada, agrabopath snd many others. Food was amazing. Good presentation and taste. Variety of food was limited. But overall a good experience with food. Staff were so polite and hospitable. They helped us with everything. I can only recall the name, Mr. Elango who helped us with most of the the things. The manager was also supercool and always made sure that we are fine. There is a stall at the hotel where you can buy fresh strawberry jams and marmalade. There is a strawberry and vegetable farm, which you should observe during your visit. They offer a tractor ride to the farm, with additional charges. But you can roam on your own too. We had a nice 2km walk in the morning to this farm. It was worth. Strawberrys were not much abundant during that time & still we could see some strawberries . There was a guide at the farm who taught us everything and let us explore the farm. The parking was adequate. Access road is somewhat broken in its last bit. But can handle even with low ground clearance vehicles. Better to reach the premises before it gets dark, as there is plenty of thick mist in the evenings, nights & mornings. Overall, it was a fascinating experience surrounded with good people & food, admist the cloudy hills. Customer care was superb. 5 stars overall. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The hotel's location is its standout feature nestled between Nuwara Eliya and Ambewela, making it an ideal base for exploring the area's many attractions. If you're planning to visit Horton Plains National Park, Hakgala Botanical Garden, Ambewela Dairy Factory, New Zealand Dairy Factory, or the local strawberry farm, this hotel places you right in the middle of it all. Perched on a hilltop, the hotel offers panoramic views of the surrounding farmland and montane forests, with the wind farms at Ambewela Dairy Factory providing a picturesque backdrop. The constant breeze adds to the charm, though it can get quite chilly at times due to the strong winds, so pack accordingly! The hotel itself appears quite new, with a modern design that blends with the natural beauty of its surroundings. The lobby is spacious and welcoming, and the rooms are designed with contemporary furnishings that add a touch of luxury to your stay. The staff, including the manager, were friendly and attentive. Parking was ample and convenient, additionally, the accommodations provided for drivers were just as clean and well-maintained as the rest of the hotel. However, one aspect that could use improvement is the condition of the road leading to the hotel. The access road is shared with several nearby attractions, including the strawberry farm, but unfortunately, it is in poor condition. The rough terrain and lack of maintenance make it challenging to navigate, especially for vehicles with low ground clearance. Like to advise future guests to drive with caution and perhaps even consider using a vehicle with higher clearance if possible. Despite this minor inconvenience, the overall experience at this hotel was outstanding. The combination of its location, stunning views, amenities, and service makes it a good choice for anyone visiting the Nuwara Eliya area.

The drive to this location was amazing. It was not hard locating the place. We were greeted warmly when we arrived by Nayana and the team. The strawberry drink they served was really nice and used fresh berries from their own farm close by. The interior of the place was amazing and had wonderful bedrooms. We were a big group so we occupied the whole property and we had it to ourselves. There is a lot of thought put into constructing this property and its very eco friendly. The flooring, the roof, the bricks used are all salvaged from different places including rail roads, old buildings, tea crates etc. The chef and the serving staff were also on point and the food was always a surprise for us and was superb. The views from the balcony is breathtaking! on one side you get the wind turbines and on the other side you get an awesome view of some of the tallest mountains/peaks of Sri Lanka. Piduruthalagala, Hirigalpoththa and SriPada to name some. You can see the Sri Pada trail lit up at night very nicely on a good day without clouds. You have to pick the right timing to avoid the rainy season to visit this property. Nayana the resident manager made us feel at home in every way possible. we stayed over for two nights and recommend this the plains green to anyone. Its a short drive to the Ambewela farm and the Hortain plains.

I recently (In August 2023) had the pleasure of staying at The Plains in Ambewela, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Nestled in the heart of Ambewela, this charming establishment offers a unique and memorable getaway that will leave a lasting impression.

One of the standout features of The Plains is undoubtedly its cool climate and breathtaking views. The mist-covered mountains create a surreal backdrop that makes you feel like you've stepped into a painting. Each morning, I was greeted by a serene atmosphere perfect for relaxation and introspection. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply seeking a tranquil escape, the surroundings at The Plains are truly unparalleled.

The staff at The Plains deserve a special mention for their exceptional hospitality. The warmth and friendliness of the team, particularly individuals like Illango, Seelan, Kumaran, and Mr. Nayana, made my stay even more enjoyable. Their attentiveness to guest needs and dedication to providing top-notch service set The Plains apart. These individuals went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction throughout my stay.

Staying at The Plains felt like a home away from home. The cosy and inviting ambience of the accommodations instantly puts you at ease. Whether you're travelling solo, as a couple, or with family, the accommodations are thoughtfully designed to cater to various preferences. I particularly appreciated the attention to detail in creating a comfortable and welcoming environment.

Of course, no stay is complete without good food, and The Plains also delivers in that aspect. The onsite restaurant serves up delectable dishes catering to various tastes. The meals were tasty and generously portioned, ensuring guests were fully satisfied.

Travelling with kids can sometimes be challenging, but The Plains goes out of its way to ensure families have a wonderful experience. The kid-friendly amenities and activities make it an excellent choice for those travelling with little ones. From spacious rooms to engaging outdoor spaces, there's no shortage of ways for kids to have a great time while staying at The Plains.

In addition to the exceptional hospitality and comfortable accommodations, The Plains offers an authentic and immersive experience. Their use of fresh vegetables from their garden for meals adds a unique and delightful touch to the dining experience. The flavours of the dishes are enhanced by the freshness of the ingredients, making each meal a memorable one.

In conclusion, my stay at The Plains in Ambewela was a true delight; every aspect of my experience exceeded my expectations. The Plains offers a perfect blend of comfort, natural beauty, outstanding hospitality, and authentic experiences like the garden-fresh vegetables and the strawberry farm tour. It is an ideal destination for anyone seeking a memorable and...

Location and Venue: The location is hauntingly beautiful, nestled on a hilly plateau, overlooking their own vegetable and strawberry farms, the Demata room had a large glass wall that gave an amazing view with the sight of Sri Pada rise. Room is extremely well decoded, bed and pillows are quite comfortable, the bathroom is well laid, clean and had a bath tub by a low glass window, enabling a romantic view. The rooms were well cleaned and amenities were provided. The room heaters were of convection types, so heat rises to the ceiling, keeping the room ambience at bed and floor levels quite chilly. Beds were equipped with electric mattress pads, which was very useful as temperatures can plummet to quite low at nightfall. Perhaps they can provided blowing air type heaters, just a thought.

Staff: Extremely professional, well trained, polite, helpful and always took challenges well and never said "no" to any reasonable request on service and meals. They did their absolute best to keep us comfortable and happy. Navod was creative with his culinary creations with new off the menu items, berry compotès, three course menus of western, eastern or local. Their palate cleansers were exceptional and meals were very delectable with good flavour, taste, aromas and textures. The meals were the freshest they could get. Thank you Navod for your enthusiasm and creativity in culinary dishes. Muru was an amazing host and he was like a guardian to us, ensures we were safe, warm and kept us happy to be there as a honeymooning couple. The living and dining rooms, the entrance foyer, the fireplace area, the doors were impeccably designed with rustic ambience and green plants all around the garden at close. All herbs and vegetables they serve were freshly harvested when meal orders were given to Muru or Navod.

Their stay in facility for chauffeurs is also excellent, according to the rental car chauffer who took us there.

Managent: From the time my wife and I planned our trip there, Nayana whoa names the Bungalow and its Restaurant chalets, have been extremely kind and helpful. He ensured we got the best meal package, followed up with us as the dates got closer.

Highly recommended as my wife is also very happy with the experiences and memoirs this magical place has created for our journey together.

One of the most romantic, isolated and non-disturbing places for couples to be together, away from disruptive environments. Great walks from there to...
