We spent quite some time looking for a Hotel in Dalsland (lakes region of Sweden) in a position which allowed us to do different outdoor activities and away from people and decided to go for Dalsland Hotel as with equipment it was easier to have an apartment. ||||The Norwegian guy below here is a genius, in the middle of nowhere? Really? That is the point...if you book this Hotel I would assume you are looking for outdoor space, lakes, canoeing etc.. otherwise come here in London plenty of shops and restaurants for you! There are only a couple of restaurants in the area which we did no t have the chance to try bear this in mind, however we did use the local coop shop and cooked together as we travelled as a group of four. ||||The location itself would allow you to walk to Canodal, where you can rent a canoe and camping equipment, to do a trip on the Stora Lee Lake with different camping stations on the way (wild camping) which we loved, we did that two days one night. ||||The Dasland Canal is 40 minutes drive away and the sea side is another 40 minutes, we visited the city of Strömstad on the coast which was suggested by a friend and we loved it, lovely food too and to go there you could drive through a bit of Norway (google Grensestua cafÚ) and maybe stop for a coffee on the border. Hence we picked ED as it was in the middle of the two side of the country with some outstanding road to drive through woods and lakes, especially coming from England which does not have either. ||||With regard to cleanliness etc... I have attached a few pictures to my review which always speak better, in words it was very cleaned and tidy, the kitchen had a lot of plates, cups, cutlery and all the necessary to cook, maybe the only thing missing was a microwave however there was a traditional oven which we preferred anyway!||||The large sofa and bed were both very comfy, of course furniture aren't last fashion of the moment which we kind of appreciated as it really blends with the surrounding, again all was in good maintenance order.||||Check-in was very smooth, the lady that checked us in was very friendly and as we were coming from different countries we had the chance to pay in the local currency which we exchanged beforehand and the other paid in Euros.||||The apartments are all 2 minutes away from the reception area (which his the yellow building in my pictures) which is also the area where they serve breakfast, so bear in mind that if your apartment is a bit down you will have to do stairs!!! Ours were the top ones. Good thing is that you only have one wall sharing with the other flat hence you do not have anyone on top or below you to disturb which is a bonus for me.||||Breakfast was sufficient, nothing crazy I have to say and the only thing I did not like was that, except the Sunday which was the busiest day, there was no beacon or eggs (except boiled eggs); I appreciate that it wasn't as busy however to cook some beacon and eggs isn't a big investment. Coffee-wise you get to chose between Espresso, Americano or Chocolate. ||||We could not use the terrace as it was rather chill at night (there are a couple of electric heater in the apartments if you feel cold) however the view was great and we use it to dry our tent and other hiking equipment. ||||Overall we really liked the place and should we go again in this area we would book the same place, this was our first time in Sweden and we loved it! Have a look at Canodal as it was a great experience else the Hotel I think rents out rowing boat. Another good place to check out is Dalslands Aktiviteter which is 20 minutes away circa with plenty of things to do outdoor!||||The whole area is not a commercial tourist destination so if you are looking for fancy restaurants etc try some bigger cities / town, if you are looking for natural beauty and peacefulness then look no further as Dalsland has plenty! ||||I hope the...

The size was good, the surrounding atmosphere was nice, but the facilities were a bit worn off and needed some renovation. Overall, things were not great but okay, except for everything in the kitchen.
Some of the dishes weren't washed at all, and the place wasn't well cleaned.Found a used spoon in the bag of coffee provided.
The bathroom was not great, but okay. The showerhead needs some cleaning, and there were molds on the bottom of the shower curtain. Some faint weird smell was delivered through the vents.
Plenty of towels were provided, and bed sheets were clean. The bed was not that comfy but was okay. Parking was easy and had plenty of spots. Access to the room was not convenient due to having to carry everything down a bunch of stairs. But this was not a huge issue.
Considering the price, it was not that bad if you ignored the dirty dishes and other kitchen facilities. But the kitchen and dishes really threw us off. I may have got one of the worst rooms, but based on the room I got, I will not return...
Read moreFor us this was the only option available when in need for a room for the night, but we regret not just continue to drive to find something else.||Ed is not a very idyllic place and the hotel including facilities does not look good at all. The small apartment we got had a combined living room and kitchen including a separate bedroom and a bathroom. It also had a huge terrace overlooking the railway that runs just in front of the hotel. But it was not appealing at all as it seemed very old, needed some paint and was lacking any furniture...||The best I can say about this stay is that a guy turned up at our apartment and fixed a non-functioning WIFI.||Breakfast was not too bad, but overall this hotel is not recommended! And far too expensive for...
