North Mountain Lodge — Hotel in Härjedalens kommun

This hostel was, without a doubt, the worst lodging experience I’ve ever had. The property reeked of mold, raising serious concerns about whether the building is even safe or permitted to operate in such conditions.||The tap water was yellow, and I felt compelled to purchase bottled water because I couldn’t trust it was clean enough to drink. All the rooms shared just three bathrooms, which were never cleaned during our entire one-week stay. The shared kitchen was also left filthy and unmaintained, further adding to the unsanitary environment.||The kitchen and sauna were both located in the basement, creating a stifling mix of humid air, mold, and lingering food smells. The kitchen itself was tiny, with broken frying pans and inadequate facilities.||The entire property felt like a poorly maintained, old, and rundown building that had been superficially painted over. The windows were outdated, allowing a cold breeze to blow into the room, and the floors were freezing. In some bathrooms, there was no warm water, and the showers were either non-functional, unhygienic, or provided only cold water.||To summarize, the facilities are in terrible shape, and staying here is only bearable if you’re so passionate about skiing that you’re willing to endure...

Problematic at least now in low season at the end of May:

1. Lacking information about check-in process, no phone number is provided. Poor customer service.
2. You have to pick up the key from a box outside of Hotel Funäsdalen, 4 km away. Same at check-out. Cumbersome, even with a car.
3. Too few toilets and showers (all shared) for the amount of guests. Well, you obviously get what you pay for, but there are...

Awesome and SO reasonable. Stay here on your way to Norway, which is CRAZY expensive. Renovated in 2021 and there were very few guests in July. Buy alcohol in Sweden before entering Norway, if u drink. Insanely expensive beer and wine in Norway. Also close to a cheap EV charging. Highly recommend....
