Review of Rimforsa Strand 26-30 September 2024||Rimforsa Strand, nestled at Fredrika Bremers Allé 2 in Rimforsa, offered a unique blend of picturesque beauty and functional amenities for our three-day conference. The serene atmosphere, complemented by warm and sunny weather, perfectly balanced work and relaxation, a feature that all attendees greatly appreciated.|The conference facilities at Rimforsa Strand were a perfect fit for our needs. The conference room fostered productive discussions, and the peaceful environment allowed us to focus without interruptions, contributing positively to our work. Sitting elsewhere, working, and talking in the imposing building is also possible. |Given Rimforsa Strand's premium pricing, expectations were naturally high, particularly concerning the culinary offerings. While some aspects met these expectations, others did not quite align with the standards anticipated for such an establishment.||1. Takeaway Food: The takeaway options were satisfactory, and the service was particularly commendable. The ease of pickup and the excellent handling of borrowed plates and other items were notable and reflected a high level of service. ||2. Breakfast: The breakfast spread was adequate, though it fell short in variety. The highlight was a unique white variety of cucumber (Kinda gurka), which stood out. However, the absence of rostbiff was noticeable, leaving a gap in the otherwise typical Swedish breakfast experience. ||3. Fika: The fika sessions were exceptional. The quality of the baked goods and snacks provided during both morning and afternoon sessions was outstanding, offering a true taste of Swedish hospitality. ||4. Lunch: Lunch, on the other hand, was somewhat underwhelming. The dishes, though well-prepared, lacked the depth of flavour that could have elevated the meal. Including more spices and bold flavours could significantly improve the dining experience. The soup served was a notable exception, standing out as the best part of the meal. Unfortunately, the main dishes were rather bland and did not meet the culinary expectations for a venue of this calibre. ||5. Afternoon Fika: The afternoon fika was a highlight, with an excellent selection of cakes, fruits, and cheeses. The quality and presentation were impressive, offering a delightful break during the conference.||6. Dinner: Dinner was perhaps the most mixed experience of the stay. While the courses were interesting and creatively presented, there were several notable issues. The knowledge of the dishes served was totally lacking, with only basic information provided about the food (meat or not) and the wine (limited to colour and country of origin). A broken glass was delivered during service, and there were inconsistencies with the seasoning, with some plates being overly salty. A specific request for no pork was not adhered to, resulting in a significant oversight as the pork was served when I had, separately, in several emails, asked for no pork for one guest. Moreover, although we were scheduled for two courses, we received three, which, while unexpected and good, added to the sense of inconsistency. The red wine served on the first day was disappointing, lacking the quality expected at such a venue and price. Additionally, the dessert after dinner on the second day was accompanied by a bottle of sweet wine(?) with an intense strawberry taste resembling strawberry juice that, unfortunately, should be avoided unless presented as that kind of sweet strawberry wine and not a port wine. The dinner experience, while exciting, did not match the high expectations set by the venue's scenery. Sometimes, the dinners felt reminiscent of a training exercise for new staff rather than a premium dining experience. ||Given the rich local fauna, it would be highly recommended that Rimforsa Strand incorporate more locally sourced game such as roe deer and the exotic fallow deer into their menu. The reliance on pork, from the lunch schnitzel to the dinner cutlets, felt excessive and somewhat monotonous. Moreover, from an environmental perspective, the heavy use of pork is concerning. By diversifying the protein options and embracing more sustainable and ethical choices, the dining experience could be more varied, flavourful and environmentally responsible.||7. Beverages and Service: The beer selection and service from both the front desk and bar staff were excellent. The staff was consistently helpful and accommodating, contributing positively to our overall experience.||The natural beauty of the lake Åsunden and the stunning views provided a perfect backdrop to our stay, enhancing the overall ambience of Rimforsa Strand. Despite the mixed experiences with the dining services, the combination of the location, atmosphere, and service quality means that a return visit is certainly in consideration, with hopes that the dining experience will align more closely with the venue's otherwise...

On my second visit to Rimforsa Strand, I was as impressed as I was during my first experience. Even with high expectations, the food did not disappoint.||Nestled at the end of the grand hotel building, the restaurant provides a fine-dining experience that is increasingly rare in Sweden. The atmosphere is relaxed, yet refined, offering comfort and elegance with that indescribable touch of finesse. As a guest, you feel seen without feeling overwhelmed, and after one meal, there's a sense of being a longtime regular. A service culture resonates within these walls.||Rimforsa Strand's dedication to using local produce shines without exaggeration. While the menu appears classically Swedish, each dish is thoughtfully composed to highlight the textures and flavors of the ingredients. The presentation is always imaginative and pleasing to the eye, but it's clear that the arrangement is crafted to elevate the harmony of tastes.||Our group enjoyed various combinations from the menu, including steak tartare, a classic skagen, Arctic char, and beef, all of which were praised. The desserts, though modestly described on the menu, became a delightful topic of conversation, thanks to their innovative flavors and presentation. Be sure to order as many different options as your party can manage.||In conclusion, Rimforsa Strand is well worth the detour and stands as a unique contribution to the culinary landscape of Sweden. With its emphasis on locally-sourced ingredients, creativity, and welcoming atmosphere, it's a must-visit destination for anyone seeking an authentic and engaging Swedish...

Rummet vi fick blev så olidligt varmt att det var helt omöjligt att somna där. Det fanns ingen möjlighet att vädra ur eller få ner temperaturen. Det var så extremt att RS borde ha hört av sig och berättat hur dåligt ställt det var med komforten på rummen och att vi inte borde komma dit.

Dagen efter förklarade receptionistan för oss att gamla hus blir varma på sommaren. Vi bor själva i ett gammalt hus där vi under varma sommarkvällar är vana att sova i 27-29 grader. Temperaturen i vårt rum var betydligt högre än så.

Receptionistan föreslog att vi skulle besöka dem under vintern istället, men att vi då kanske behövde ta med oss extra filtar för att inte fyrsa. Ska man ta med egna sängkläder finns det betydligt mer prisvärda vandrarhem att välja bland.

Som avslut på vår vistelse tyckte receptionistan att vi skulle åka hem och sova ut. Vi följde hennes råd eftersom vi ändå inte kände oss så företagsamma att genomföra de semesteraktiviteter vi planerat efter 3h nattsömn.

Vi besökte även restaurangen under vårt besök. Personalen var väldigt stressad och disträ även om jag inte såg någon uppenbar anledning till detta då endast halva uteserveringen hade gäster. VI fick vänta en timme på att få in vatten och 1,5h på maten. Efterrätten var märkligt komponerad med maränger som var blötlagda i en flädersås och följdaktligen helt upplösta redan vid servering. Det rekommenderade dessertvinet skar sig smakmässigt mot desserten. Till sällskapets dessert ingick ett flarn som smakade bränt. I övrigt höll maten och drycketn ok standard och kvalitet för prislappen.

Det som var positivt med vistelsen var strandbastun där omklädningsrummen var stora och fräscha och där schampoo, balsam och hudkräm från c/o Gerd tillhandahölls. Receptionisten som jobbade när vi anlände var även mycket trevlig.

På det stora hela är RS inte ett ställe jag kan rekommendera och inget ställe jag önskar besöka igen trots alla i övrigt positivt skivna...
