Stayed here in end December 2024 as a couple. About 20 minutes drive from the Kiruna Airport as this property is located into the forest area near the Torne river and a 10-15 min drive from the City Centre where you can visit various restaurants, malls, shopping centers and grocery stores. We reached by flight an evening prior and stayed in the city center and the next day after checkout, we had Tony pick us up from there to take us to Aurora River Camp. He also asked us if we wanted to pick up some groceries and there is literally nothing around the property. We were able to check-in easily, and Tony was absolutely a pleasure and walked us through everything and also took us with our luggage to our Igloo and gave us all directions and instructions of usage since everything was very unique here unlike other hotels. We had opted for a Riverside Glass Igloo which was right near the frozen river and was extremely compact, but beautiful to see the northern lights. Unfortunately, we stayed only 1N and it was cloudy but the previous day and other days around there were beautiful northern lights visible from the property. Tony also volunteered to inform us when they appear.||A nice, clean, compact igloo room with a small bio toilet, however with no shower (only toilet paper, towels, napkins, kitchen wash basin) and a mini kitchenette with cutlery, crockery and an induction stove. We had access to the main common lounge which was a 3-4 minute walk which had multiple bathrooms with toiletries, shampoo, body wash, and other amenities. There were multiple lounge areas within this with several sofas, tables, chairs for your privacy and also a common kitchen with fridge where you can cook, wash etc. There was an hour of Sauna also included which we could book in advance with Tony.||Since it was almost the midst of winter in Sweden, we did need the heater in the igloo. Buffet Breakfast was served in the common lounge was very limited, could have been better for the price paid with a larger spread, did get crowded at times.||Overall, a great stay and would recommend staying here as this camp was just perfectly located near the river, across the world famous Ice Hotel (you can walk across in winter over the frozen river), decent rooms and bathrooms! Thank you Aurora River Camp & Glass Igloos and Tony for the wonderful stay and hospitality and we would definitely stay here again! Tony also then dropped us back to...
Read moreWe recently stayed in one of the glass igloos at Aurora River Camp, and it was truly an incredible experience! Despite some comments about the igloos being small, we found them super comfortable—even for three people, including our 5-year-old daughter. The igloo was perfectly heated, and we never felt cold. It even had a sound system, allowing us to connect our devices and enjoy watching the mesmerizing northern lights right from the comfort of our bed.
The camp provides warm overalls, gloves, boots, and hats for the entire stay, which kept us snug and warm during all our outdoor adventures. Inside the igloo, there’s a compact bio toilet and a small kitchenette with essential equipment. However, the main lounge, just a 2-3 minute walk from the igloo, became a favorite spot for us.
The shared lounge was spotless and super well-maintained throughout our stay—a true highlight! It had large showers, toilets, a fully equipped kitchen, and cozy living areas with comfortable sofas. To our daughter’s delight, there were games like Jenga and Monopoly, so she was entertained the entire time.
The location of the camp is perfect, 10-15 mins from Kiruna airport. Tony, the host, picked us up from the airport and even took us to a grocery store in Kiruna so we could stock up for our stay. He also arranged our transfer to our next destination after check-out. Tony and his wife went above and beyond to ensure our stay was seamless, helping us plan activities in Kiruna and keeping us updated on the best times to see the northern lights. We were lucky to witness the breathtaking aurora both nights of our stay—an experience we’ll never forget!
We also indulged in the outdoor sauna, which had stunning views of the snow and frozen lake.
All three of us wished we could have stayed longer. A huge thank you to Tony, his wife, and everyone at Aurora River Camp & Glass Igloos for making our stay so memorable and enjoyable. It was perfect for our little family and an experience we’ll...
Read moreI loved everything with this hotel - especially the fantastic service from the staff (a man named Sander) that made our trip memorable! Check-in was smooth and easy. We were shown where we could eat and where the sights were. Considering there were less than a handful of restaurants across the ice, that was valuable information. The room was very nicely designed. Beautiful view of Torne river - opposite to Ice hotel. Well maintained room, clean and tidy. We also stayed at Ice hotel, but Aurora River camp glass igloos was much cozier, quieter and more personal. The hotel offers free boots and warm clothes. They have a great sauna. When we got stuck with the snowmobile, the staff (Sander) came out to us and asked if we needed help without us asking for it - talk about good customer care! When I was going to load two scooters onto the car (never owned a scooter before) the staff (Sander again!) came and helped load the scooter. When the car didn't start in the extreme cold, Sander was there again with a battery starter. I stay about 150 nights a year at different hotels, is a level 3 member and I have never before experienced such fantastic service! "Up here in the arctic we help eacher" said the staff (Sander) with a smile and he didn't even wanted anything for the trouble. Fantastic! In total this is one of my best stays ever. (Of course I had to buy some small gift to Sander as a thanks to all the help and...
