The special thing with this hotel is the environment.||It is located in an 18th century manor house (herrgård) with 2 wings, in a small park on a lush island in the archipelago.||||The staff are extremely friendly and accomodating. The same establishment, with the same nice staff runs all services on the island, such as the hostel, the restaurant, the cafe / mini mart and the guest jetty||||The rooms are in several buildings.||My room was nice, light and airy, decorated in a scandinavian style, with some marine decor elements. A little bit like being a guest in someone's newly decorated summer cottage. ||And the standard is precisely that, in a positive sense. Summer cottage, simple, but pleasant and comfortable.||The room was rather large, and had a small table, two chairs and a comfortable easychair.||Some storage in the bedside tables. No wardrobe, only hooks and hangers.||A small bookshelf with some coffee table books with nice photographs.||||Plenty of power sockets and good lamps. (I was there in July and the lamps were hardly needed).||Very comfortable bed.||||Showers and toilets in the corridor, enough of these for the number of guests. And these are nicely equipped, but miss some details, like more hooks to hang clothes and towels, shelf for your shampoo in the shower, or somewhere to put your washbag, that isn't the floor.||||The breakfast buffet is good, although not large, standard Swedish breakfast buffet with very good bread, a small selectionof spreads, cereals, and boiled eggs. To be eaten outdoors on the same lovely terass that is the restaurant. There are indoor tables as well, although I did not see anyone using them. ||||The main building has a little guest sitting room upstairs.||Surrounding the hotel is a large garden, almost a park, with plenty of places to sit and relax, and a small children's playground.||||There is free WiFi, that works in common areas, also in the garden, at least part of the garden. But, I was staying in another building, and it did not work there. It might work in the wings of the manor house though.||||The restaurant has fine food, good food, worth the stay at Lidö, although with prices to match. The cafe has some lighter dishes, and sandwiches, also to Swedish prices.||||The island of Lidö has both leafy meadows and forest, and of cause those gorgeous archipelago cliffs.||One can take walks, watch birds, swim from the cliffs, or just sunbathe (wheather permitting) or do nothing at all but relax in the lovely environment.||||You get there by Waxholmsbolaget, from Stockholm, or Räfsnäs. But in the summer time there is another operator, Norra båtlinjen, from Norrtälje, and some of the other islands. This one needs to be pre...
Read moreThis is the place to visit if you as a tourist want to experience the beautiful Stockholm archipelago and stay somewhere calm relaxing with a genuine scandinavian feeling.||We stayed here for a night during a weekend in July. The Inn is situated on Lidö island it takes a few hours with the ferry from Stockholm and you have to change boat at the island of Fejan. There is also a shorter ferry from the mainland east of Norrtälje connected by bus from Stockholm. The large yelllow manor building hosts the main restaurant and in front is an outdoor patio where lunch and dinner is served outdoors. The room was situated in a separate building. It was bright large and clean. Beds were good. There was a wonderful sea view. Toilet and shower is shared with teh other rooms in the same building but there were enough of them for all guests. No television but who needs that in a place like this. There are some walkways round the island and pretty much all of the island is acessable since there are no private grounds.A few hundred meters away is a marina with a small bar/cafe/lunch restaurant. It was nice to sit there have a snack and have a look at the boats in the marina. The quality of the dinner was high and there was a live music performance without any cost. Breakfast was good as well with freshly baked bread. Staff very frindly and helpful. This is a place that we...
Read moreI reviewed Lidö värdshus in 2014, and have been back a number of times since, and it is still as good.||Beautiful peaceful island with lots of wonderful nature. Friendly and welcoming owners, that take the time to chat. ||||The island was hard hit by the new year´s storm Alfrida, in 2019. Now, in 2021, the devastation has been cleared and the island is if possible even more beautiful, and it is interesting to see how nature develops after such a storm. ||||Simple small room, but very well appointed for its size, basically just room for the || two single beds, but there are still hooks to hang jackets etc, a bedside table with a cupboard, and a wardrobe alcove with hangers and a luggage stand. ||Showers and toilets in the corridor, absolutely pristine that appears to be freshly renovated.||||Standard swedish breakfast buffet, with cereals, bread and spreads, and hard boiled eggs to be eaten outside in the garden.||||They are making a huge effort to be environmentally friendly. ||||Good restaurant with options for a number of different tastes, and several vegetarian options.||For the budget minded, there is a self catering kitchen in the Västergården pension, and as well self...
