Pinetree Lodge — Hotel in Pajala kommun

I stayed two nights at Pinetree Lodge in Kangos, Sweden.||The room I booked was with lakeview in the annex-building - very nice and quiet view.|Room was clean and basic modern, but no television, no refrigerator, no small table for approximately 124,00 EUR per night in September (no peak season anymore in Sweden) I paid. I am really not a television-junkie but for this price I can expect more comfort.||Further weaknesses/ problems in the Pinetree Lodge:|1) I made reservation around six months before arrival for a two bed-room with lakeview. When checking-in they wanted to give me a cabin without any spectacular view for the same price as they got in a travelgroup. I, polite but also was getting a bit upset about this, said I wanna have my type of room I made reservation for. After waiting around 25 minutes I got the room I booked.|Breakfast included is average in choice, in quality good.|2) Lunch was low in quantity for the price of around 18,00 EUR I paid for two very small hot dogs with small fries (ca. 9,00 EUR) and a very small smoked salmon sandwich (salmon and some vegetables on a very small round slice of crispbread) for approximately 9,00 EUR as well. Too expensive!|And the server (a "friendly" (friendly in "" because I am not sure whether she was naturally friendly) mid-aged lady) does not remember (or maybe she does not want to remember) the food I - the customer - ordered because she wanted to charge me around 11,00 EUR (normally the price for a grillled sausage with fries) for the hot dogs instead of the ca. 9,00 EUR as shown in the menu.||3) The same happened to me with another server (a young, mid-"friendly" lady) the evening before. First she tried to "sell" me that there is only a 3-course menu for around 36,00 EUR. But if I told her that on the website of the lodge there is a menu-card for downloading she admitted that there were other things for dinner. I ordered a burger with fries and salad (quality and quantity good) for around 16,00 EUR. But she charged me the salad additionally for ca. 6,00 EUR. That is a no-go for me. Unfortunately I did not have a printed receipt for this dinner, I paid cash. And - as I told above - also after they got a second chance from me to do it better at next day's lunch, they tried to charge when paying higher prices for food I did not order (see above).||4) When I checked-out they try to charge me a second time the total price of my stay which was already paid by me. Unbelievable impertinent this behaviour of the responsible lodge employees / staff!!!||In my opinion Pinetree Lodge is a big tourist trap! Nature around lodge is beautiful but the lodge itself: Decency and honesty of the staff towards paying and polite customers is in short supply here. Lodge rooms are too expensive for the meager...

With our 6 person group we had a hotel room and a little lodge for 4 people. The hotelrooms are not very spacious, but comfortable beds and a nice shower! You don't spend much time there anyway so it doesn't really matter. The small lodge was spacious and very modern, even a small sauna!||||The food was great. For breakfast we had many options: eggs, waffles, bread, yoghurt, fruits.. For lunch a soup was served with salads, pasta, bread.. For dinner there was one meal (that's easy! :)), including a salad as a starter and a dessert. The staff took good care of one of our group who does not eat meat or gluten, and was served special meals everyday. ||||The activities were awesome: half a day with the dogs, the snow scooters (especially the evening trip with Maarten: man, that was amazing), visiting the reindeers at the farm, the snowshoe evening walk, ice fishing.. Renting the jacuzzi and sauna is also definitely a recommendation: great fun!||||We also spent quite some time in the bar! Of course, the alcohol is not cheap (average of 6 euros for a beer, 7 for a pint, 10 for a cocktail), but that is known when you come to Sweden! Nice games with the staff and fun to chat with them after the evening activities when they join you for a drink.||||Special thanks to Koen & Maurice for making sure our GoPro got back home safely, which we left in the bus on the way to the airport.||||Would definitely recommend this...

Wie van stilte houdt en niet afkerig is van een afgelegen verblijf zal in deze lodge wel aan zijn trekken komen.|Eenmaal je het dorp doorgereden bent rij je over een gravel weg de eenzaamheid in waar na enkele kilometers een plakkaat je toont dat je aangekomen bent in Pinetree Lodge.|Wij hadden zo’n Arctic Living Chalet voor vier personen met uitzicht op het meer. Tip: wanneer je zo’n chalet huurt voorzie je voor aankomst van eten en drinken want hier in de middel of nowhere is niets te krijgen of je moet kilometers rondrijden.|Ieder chalet heeft een eigen terras van waar je kunt afdalen naar een soort stijger waarop je kunt genieten van de stilte of een duik in het water nemen.|Alhoewel we van mooi zomer weer genoten was het water voor de meesten nog te koud maar de schittering van de zon op het water vergeet ik nooit.|In deze tijd van het jaar was het hier nog niet zo druk dus hadden we alle ruimte in het restaurant waar jonge jobstudenten (?) in stonden voor de zaal bediening.|Later maakten we kennis met Johan de vriendelijke en enthousiaste eigenaar van het domein.|Geboren en getogen in dit deel van Noord Zweden vertelde hij over het leven in het noorden en de vele husky’s (meer dan honderd) die op het domein aanwezig zijn en bood een rondleiding aan.|In de omgeving zijn mooie niet altijd goed aangeduide wandelingen te doen, info aan de receptie.|De bever trail is een fantastische wandeling maar niet aan te raden in de zomer, wie zich toch niet kan inhouden moet zich zeer goed beschermen tegen de muggen die je met hordes aanvallen, muggen beschermingsproducten en muggen pet zijn geen overbodige luxe, ik zou zelfs aanraden om handschoenen aan te doen want die smeerlapkes steken overal, zelfs door je kleren. |We hadden een mooi verblijf in Pinetree Lodge alleen moet je het geblaf van de honden er bij nemen die de doodse stilte van de omgeving al te vaak verstoorden zelfs soms ‘s nachts wanneer het op deze tijd van het jaar niet donker word.|Ramen dicht doen is geen optie want er is geen airco en het kan hier best warm zijn, muggen gaas en licht dempende gordijnen...
