First I would like to say how happy I was with my experience coming to Branäs which was great until we really needed help, then things turned sour very quickly.
The chain of events are as followed
• My friend fell and experienced a lot of pain in his ankle and knee( by no mean is this your fault things happen especially in icy coditions), even though in pain my colleague decided to make it down to the bottom approx. 16:20-16:30 at the Gondolalen • We sat in Ski lodge and to get out of the rain and see if pain subsided approx. 15-25mins, when the pain didn’t subside and my colleague started to go white and be in a lot of pain, we went into the ski hire shop and asked for assistance to get to our chalet Älgen 7, where we could drive to the hospital or get further assistance. We were told that the skidoos where busy and we needed to make our own way back, I said that at this stage we were sure he had cracked or broken something as he couldn’t put any weight on his leg but we were told help wasn’t possible could we ask someone to pick us up or me leave my friend and pick him up. • We had our friend start to drive to pick us up but after 30mins he had to turn around because the roads were too icy and he couldn’t get traction and can nearly drove off the road, at this time it’s now 17:55 and my friend has gone even whiter and his adrenalin has worn off and he is in lots of pain • We go back to the shop and asked again for help ski patrol refused to help, the personnel in the shop were very nice and helpful even though they weren’t managing to help us, and at this stage they took things into their own hands and asked one of the personnel from the ski lodge to drive my colleague back to Älgen 7 in her 4x4, where we then had a ambulance come and help us. • On Sunday we drove to Göteborg and to the hospital and my friend had a x-ray which confirmed he had broken his ankle and a stranded Menisc on left knee
All in all, I expected a lot more and this was an awful and degrading experience for me and more so my friend who was in pain having to beg for help, how is this even possible? What did we do wrong!

Read moreSki Camping - The ski area is great. Depending on your skill set it will not fit the more advanced skiers. But for beginners and intermediates it is awesome.
Ski Rental is the worst experience i have ever tried (including the czech republic 15 years ago). Every piece of equipment rented was worn out. Skis had not seen wax since the season start. Usually our kids do not have any issues getting into the skis/binding. Everybody has been struggling with the gear.
We also experienced that the same size and model boots, where so worn that it was like fitting different sizes.
Disposable trash and shopping: This is where you really discover that this is not a ski resort, but a camping area that in the winter facilitates skiing.
We have rented an apartment on the top of the mountain, and we have just discovered that to get rid of ordinary trash we need to walk 500 meters down a steep snowcowered hill, or start the car to drive safely to the recycling area. For us it seems ok, to bring the recycled materials, but the ordinary day to day trash we expected would be at a much closer location. This is common for a camping site but not what you would expect from an actual ski resort. Our references beeing Trysil, Hemsdal and Lilvingio.
Since we are in sweden we chose to utilize the local shops for food. Again we where met with the camping "kiosk" experience. Insanely overpriced with a very limited supply.
I was also looking for purchasing a new pair of skis and Boots, but we where inable to locate any shop or service selling ski's.
Branäs is a great place if you are a hardcore winter camping entusiast, as a modern ski resort it...
Read moreA great family area to ski with enough to keep young children entertained for our week there. Lots of nice accommodation in aesthetically pleasing cabins. The lift system is okay, long queues at the two main lifts meant that a lot of waiting was done, but the new planned lift for next season should fix this. The skiing should give Branäs five stars, but what brings it down is the lack of decent service and entertainment for the time off the slopes.
The restaurants/bars all had pretty much the same menus, consisting of poor quality food. The ordering system via the app works fine but removes the personal contact that makes eating and drinking out enjoyable. We ate an evening meal at Ladan's restaurant, and were all slightly disappointed with the quality of the meal. The burgers were dry and were not made with fresh meat, not worth the money we payed for them. The only afterski was on the other side of the hill from where we stayed, which meant that we didn't go as the kids were already tired and didn't want to stay in ski gear.
Branäs would be smart to license out the bars and restaurants to ensure quality and variation of the food and drink served. This would also allow for locals to be able to start their own businesses, giving the people of the area a chance to be entrepreneurs instead of seasonal employees.
The sport shops and supermarkets were also poorly stocked and overpriced. Again, these should be licensed out to private companies to lift the quality and...
