As an airline crew who travels for work and play , I have stayed in many hotels. We found Ali's hotel to be operated more like a bed and breakfast with great service. Ali's hotel may not be in central Zurich but it is an excellent location to start and end a holiday in Switzerland due to the close proximity to the Zurich International Airpot. When we first arrived in Zurich, we were shattered and needed a comfortable place to stay for the night for a family of four (two teenage boys). Ali's Hotel had rooms that were well maintained and very comfortable beds that really aided us in getting much needed rest. In fact, so comfortable that we stayed an additional night. The breakfast was very plentiful with a great selection. What made it above average was Ali's attempt to get any other items that suited our diet plan aka lactose free items and any additional dietary requirements. There was a problem with a blind on a window and Ali saw to it that a fix was made immediately that was greatly appreciated. Ali had to run an errand and actually gave us a ride complimentary to the rental car centre at the Zurich Airport. Above and beyond service! I have no hesitation to recommend Ali's Hotel due to meeting not only our accommodation needs but for making us feel like family while we were there. Thanks Ali, I wish more hotel operators could give this boutique style hotel feeling. I wish you success and will call on you again should we...
Read moreThis was best option for a single night stay while visiting Zurich.
They have dedicated free parking garage which is a luxury in and around Zurich. We selected the place also due to its good public transport connectivity to the city center (we ended up taking our car though). The room was very spacious and clean. Our TV in the room was broken and balanced dangerously but it wasn't a deal breaker for us.
Since we visited during summer (June) it was too hot in the room even at night (fans were apparently available if we had asked the reception, unfortunately we didn't know that). We tried to keep our window and shutter open but since it was a Saturday night the bar downstairs was open till late and the noise was disturbing. It was perfectly all right when we shut the window but that made the room too hot again. The washroom was very spacious and clean.
The host were quite friendly and informed us during the checkout about the fans and bar situation during the weekend; luckily we were there only for a night but it would have been nice to know in advance about such conveniences available upon request for first...
Read moreThis family-run hotel is located on the North side of Neue Winterthurerstrasse (1) at the junction with Basserdorferstrasse between Dietikon and Effretikon.|It has some parking at ground level plus an extensive underground car park. Free car parking should not be a problem, even when the hotel is busy.||The rooms are spacious and clean. The quietest ones are over the breakfast room in the north-west corner.|Each room has two keys which are inter-changeable at Reception: one for the room door and one for the outside door (in case reception is closed.) it is an unusual system, but works well.||There is limited choice for breakfast, but items are replenished. The bread loaves are particularly nice.||The Restaurant is the best feature of this hotel. There is extensive seating outside and plenty more inside for the winter months. There is a good choice of food which is cooked, presented and served well. Less choice of beverages.||But given the remote location, the hotel and restaurant are quite expensive, even for the...
