If one chooses to do the long hike from|Brusio up to San Romerio which is about 11 km in length and 1 km in altitude difference, then the great food will come in handy at San Romerio. Fortunately there are also shorter versions to arrive, namely from Viano or Piaz but the buses must be ordered in advance or might not be available. |If staying overnight, then dinner is served from 18:30 and it is a daily fixed menu so best to plan accordingly if arriving mid afternoon. And best to brush up on your Italian if one wants to have a really good conversation with the hosts. |But these are all minor details in the grand scheme of things and the San Romerio is an absolutely wonderful place to stay. The rooms are comfortable, plenty of duvets and blankets are provided and the shared bathroom is pristinely clean.
