We hiked down to Barme from the Col de Cou and were delighted to find a tranquil oasis at the Cantine des Dents Blanches, set in a small hamlet with towering mountains above, a stream nearby, and looking out at gently wooded slopes across the valley.||||We ordered salads (Cesar and Goat's cheese) and they were large and delicious, with fresh, local ingredients, served by friendly staff who spoke English (when our french failed). We ate outside the old wooden building, under a parasol, and fille dour water bottles at the spring fed trough in the garden. There's a trampoline for the kids and a lot of space for them to run around in. We arrived late because we had a long day of hiking, and we were still a full dinner including in our case Pasta Carbonara. We even got free complimentary wine which was great.
