Fischingen Abbey — Hotel in Fischingen

Stayed here for two days for a work training course. Early check-in was possible, which was very efficient and friendly. Location is good and can be reached by bus. ||The room was very modern, with a frosted glass shower in the room. Rooms are large and the corridors are dark during the night - lightswitches are there to have light to walk around. Bed nice and hard. There is a honesty bar where you can try the monastry beers. The function room was of a good size and the provided equipment were good. Lunch and dinner are served as share dishes - e.g. soup in a terrine, main course on a large platter - so serve yourselves. The breakfast was good, no hot dishes, but enough other options. Snacks, etc during the breaks were provided and tasty. Happy to visit again as a private person to relax and enjoy the quietness of the place, the church...

The room, a former monastic cell, was designed minimalistic but modern. It was spacious, clean and had comfy beds. The idea of the hotel is to wind down and relax, so there wasn't a TV in the room, which didn't bother us at all. Also there is neighther a minibar nor a kettle provided in the room.

We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both were very good, also with plenty of vegetarian alternatives.

The staff both at the Front Desk as well as in the restaurant is extremely friendly and helpful.

Good to know, due to Covid there are certain times for your meals, so prepare yourself to show up for breakfast between 8 to 9am (till 10 on Sundays ;)) and for dinner between...

Ich weiß gar nicht, wo ich anfangen soll – es war einfach himmlisch! Ein Ort wie aus einer anderen Welt: Das Restaurant ist ein wahrer Gaumenschmaus, auf dem Niveau einer Fünf-Sterne-Küche. Edel eingedeckte Tische mit weißen Tischtüchern, glänzendes Silberbesteck und ein professionelles, aufmerksames Team – von Anfang bis Ende ein kulinarisches Erlebnis der Extraklasse.

Ich entschied mich für einen Klassiker aus der Klosterküche: die Dussnanger Wasserbüffel-Bratwurst – hervorragend zubereitet und geschmacklich ein echtes Highlight. Ebenso das Tagesgericht vom Rind, serviert mit Polenta und Bohnen – fein abgeschmeckt und auf den Punkt gegart. Als Dessert wählten wir Vermicelles – ein süßer Abschluss, der perfekt zum Gesamtbild passte.

Dazu probierten wir einige der hauseigenen Biere der Hofbrauerei Pilgrim, die jedes für sich eine echte Entdeckung waren. Ein großes Kompliment an das gesamte Team – vom Service bis in die Küche: einfach himmlisch!

Auch das Hotel selbst war ein Erlebnis. In einem ehemaligen Kloster zu übernachten, ist schon etwas ganz Besonderes. Statt Zimmernummern tragen die Räume die Namen von Heiligen, die in der Geschichte des Klosters eine bedeutende Rolle gespielt haben – eine schöne, spirituelle Geste, die uns beim Check-in erklärt wurde. Die Lage des Hotels ist traumhaft: Mitten im Grünen, in einem kleinen, idyllischen Dörfchen, das gleichzeitig ein perfekter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in der Region ist. Die Zimmer sind großzügig, hell, sauber und mit einer klaren, ruhigen Atmosphäre – fast schon spirituell. Die modern integrierten Nasszellen fügen sich stilvoll in das historische Ambiente ein. Einziger kleiner Hinweis: Die Orientierung im Kloster kann etwas zur Herausforderung werden – man verläuft sich leicht. Doch genau das macht den besonderen Reiz aus – es gibt überall versteckte Winkel und kleine, stille Orte zu entdecken, die zum Verweilen einladen.
