🚨 The Worst Hotel Experience – Rude Manager & Filthy Rooms! 🚨

I stayed at Aspen Alpine Lifestyle Hotel in July 2023, and it was an absolute disaster. This hotel is nothing like what they advertise—misleading pictures, poor service, and unprofessional staff. If I could rate it zero stars, I would.

The Room Was Unacceptable 🤢 • The room had a strong, unpleasant smell and was filled with dust, pet hair, and dirt. • The furniture was extremely outdated and poorly maintained. • The bed sheets were yellowish and looked unwashed. • The towels were old, discolored, and not up to standard. • The kettle was rusty, making it unusable. • The kitchen was locked, and we were told it could not be used, despite being advertised as part of the room amenities.

False Advertising – Misleading View • The room was located in a basement-like area with a view of a parking lot instead of the scenic mountain views shown in the photos. • The entire atmosphere was dim, uninviting, and not reflective of a premium hotel.

Extremely Unprofessional and Rude Staff 😡 • Upon raising these concerns, the receptionist was dismissive and uninterested in resolving the issues. • After persistent requests for a room change, she suddenly started yelling in an aggressive and unprofessional manner, stating, "If you don’t like it, leave! That’s not my problem!" • When I requested to speak to the manager, she claimed to be the manager herself and refused to assist further. • This behavior was completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that advertises itself as a high-end property. • It was clear that this was a recurring issue as other guests were waiting to check in and seemed to be facing similar concerns.

Overpriced and Not Worth It 💸 • The stay cost over AED 12,000 (~CHF 2,900), which was completely unjustified given the poor conditions and unacceptable service. • For this price, guests should expect luxury, cleanliness, and professional service, none of which were provided.

Pattern of Bad Service – Not an Isolated Incident 🚨 • After experiencing this, I read other negative reviews and found that many guests had the exact same complaints about the cleanliness and the staff’s behavior. • The manager’s rude and dismissive approach seems to be a recurring issue.

Final Verdict: AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS! ❌ • The hotel is misleading in its advertising. • The rooms are unclean, outdated, and overpriced. • The staff is rude and unprofessional. • You will regret booking this place.

Save yourself the trouble and book somewhere else. I wish I had trusted the negative reviews before making...

The hotel itself was cozy and personnel was helpful and smiley. But till the time we had an issue with the room smell. When we reported the reception about the room smell immediately when entered the room (very strong perfume smell, so strong you feel dizzy immediately) they tried to help to get rid of it, but they couldn’t. First night we were offered to sleep in another room of lower category when our room stayed with open windows for the whole night (at the end they charged the price of mounting view room). On next day we came back to our room, but the smell stayed. So we asked to give us another room with a view (as per booking) or if not possible we wanted to check out. The earlier check out option was unavailable, as the hotel didn’t want to give us money back . So, we decided to stay, as it was a lot of money to loose. They offered us other variants, but all of them were without a view or ground floor (we payed for a room with a view and we have chosen this hotel because if that). We agreed to the bigger room with a view and we had to pay + 100chf. They also promised us a room with a view, but available next day. We agreed. Next day we came downstairs to ask when we can see the room (to check the smell, which was critical) and the owner of the hotel came to us and was extremely rude to us directly. We didn’t complain, we were polite, we wanted to explain what has happened and she told us, that she didn’t want to hear anything, she interrupted, was rude and mad that we asked to check the room. As a result we got the room with a view and without a smell, but her attitude was so rude, she didn’t want to talk to us, didn’t ask what was the real reason (I am allergic to strong smells, I cannot stay a minute in the venue which has a smell). Why should I feel guilty or agree to the conditions which are not good for my health and feeling? All could be good and we could leave happy and satisfied, because everything was fixed except how the owner talked to us and how she treated us. All stay was ruined because she doesn’t know how to talk to people, no respect, no compassion, just money oriented attitude. We chose that hotel, because it was a family owned hotel. Never again. Pricey as hell and attitude of the owner to the guests rude and...

We recently stayed at Aspen Alpine Lifestyle Hotel Grindelwald and had an incredibly disappointing experience due to their poor customer service. We booked a mountain view room through Lastminute (Expedia), specifically traveling all the way from London to enjoy the scenic views, but were given a room with only a partial view, facing the car park from level 0. Despite this being potentially Expedia’s fault, the staff's attitude was unacceptably rude.

When we tried to explain the issue, the manager, Suzanne, rudely dismissed us, insisting we had booked the partial view room. She even threatened us, stating that if we left a bad review, she wouldn’t help us at all. Her behavior was unprofessional, especially when she made a snide comment about our 3-year-old daughter’s preference for upper rooms.

We had planned a 4-night stay but ended up leaving after just 1 night due to their unwelcoming behavior. We have stayed at this hotel twice before and have always enjoyed the mountain view. Unfortunately, this time the staff at Aspen Alpine Lifestyle Hotel showed no empathy or willingness to cooperate, despite this issue being outside their control.

Additionally, when I first reached out via email to confirm our reservation, I mentioned that our primary reason for coming was to stay in a mountain view room and enjoy the views. The response I received was indifferent and dismissive, as if replying to emails was a burdensome task. They made it clear that our return visit was not important to them; their attitude was, "if you want to leave, just leave, we don’t care."

For anyone considering booking through Expedia or Lastminute, be aware that the staff at this hotel may not be kind or helpful. Our experience was marred by their mean-spirited attitude, and we will not be returning.

Lastminute has indicated that it will take time to determine whether the fault lies with Expedia or Aspen, but the hotel staff insisted that this was what we booked and blamed Expedia. Regardless of who is at fault, the hotel's response was far from...

Staying at Aspen Grindelwald felt like stepping into a fairytale. From the moment I arrived, everything radiated warmth, luxury, and the charm of the Swiss Alps. The view alone is breathtaking — snow-capped peaks, fresh mountain air, and the cozy Alpine atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home yet completely spoiled. But what truly stole my heart was the restaurant. Oh, where do I even begin? The food is pure art — every dish is a masterpiece that awakens all your senses. The flavors are bold yet elegant, the presentation is picture-perfect, and every bite feels like a journey through the finest Swiss ingredients elevated to perfection. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the chefs seem to craft magic on every plate. The service is flawless — warm, attentive, and genuine, with staff who anticipate what you need before you even say it. Dining here felt less like a meal and more like an unforgettable experience. I can confidently say it’s one of the best culinary experiences I’ve ever had anywhere in the world. If heaven had a hotel, it would be Aspen Grindelwald. I can’t wait to come back — for the view, the peace, and most of all, that out-of-this-world restaurant that made me fall in love with the Alps all over again.

Everything was incredible! We stayed here during our elopement in Grindelwald and it was absolutely perfect. The staff even left us a sweet welcome gift to celebrate the occasion! ROOMS- The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the toiletries were above and beyond! But the best part of the room was THE VIEW! Absolutely amazing views of the mountains. The robe and slippers were super plush and a wonderful luxury touch. SPA- the spa was absolutely wonderful! Incredible views from the hot tub and the sauna and steam rooms were so relaxing. We both had a wonderful massage while we were here. RESTAURANT- the included breakfast was delicious! A very wide variety of tasty hot and cold foods, you could eat something different every day! We dined at the restaurant twice and the food and service were also great. LOCATION- again, the VIEWS! It is about a 30 minute walk to Grindelwald Grund train station (where you can get trains and busses most places) and there's also a local bus that stops right in front of the hotel every hour or so and goes to downtown Grindelwald. Just know that the last bus from town to the hotel leaves at 6:45pm and the walk back is quite difficult uphill! The hotel also offers a shuttle for 40chf.
