Alpenrose — Hotel in Innertkirchen

I was travelling through Switzerland to Italy on my M/bike and wanted to tour around some the great mountain passes - quite iconic roads. Innertkichen is at the apex of several passes and was a great jumping off point. I needed a comfortable hotel and The Alpenrose was spot on. It is a small hotel and the rooms were clean and tidy and quiet - no frills. It was very quiet the night I stayed - just two guests - so no dinner was available that night but there were many others restaurants nearby so not an issue. ||Views over the mountains were brilliant. The breakfast was good and most importantly the owner/staff were very helpful with information and guidance. ||As a simple, clean, friendly and comfortable hotel it provided everything I was looking for - very good value. Innertkirchen is a very small town, only two hotels there. We wanted to get an early start to Trift, so we decided to stay in town.||||We were in a party of four, and this hotel was one of the few we could find on our trip, that had a room for all four of us. Nothing fancy, but clean. It was unseasonably hot when we were there and the hotel has no air conditioning, but were able to open the windows.||||The staff was very accommodating to our schedule and needs. Einrichtung und Zimmer ziemlich in die Jahre gekommen, jedoch nicht sonderlich störend. Kurios sind die Schlüsselkarten, die so gar nicht zum rustikalen Stil des Hotels passen. In einigen Badezimmern ist zwar ein fester Haartrockner installiert, kurioserweise gibt es aber keine Steckdose dafür, in anderen wiederum gibt es nur eine Art nachträglich installiertes Fertigbadezimmer mit sehr schmaler Durchgangstür. Die Alpenrose scheint alleine vom Restaurant zu leben, denn wir waren die einzigen Gäste im Hotel, während das Restaurant vor allem von vorbeifahrenden Motorradfahrern auf dem Weg zum Grimsel- oder Sustenpass ziemlich gut besucht war. Restaurant ist sehr gut und ziemlich einmalig gewesen (vor allem Ernestos Rock-Filet kann ich empfehlen), wenn auch nicht ganz billig. Der Preis für das Hotel selbst war sehr gut, da kann man auch die alte Einrichtung aus den 60ern/70ern gut in Kauf nehmen. Lage auch optimal mit großer Nähe zum Grimselpass (empfehle ich jedem als Ausflugsziel). Innertkirchen ist von allen Seiten eingeschlossen durch Berge (um zum Supermarkt oder zu einer Apotheke zu kommen, muss man erstmal etwas Bergstrecke nach Meiringen hochfahren), aber eben typisch Schweiz ;)
