I went to Alishan for a typical 2 day 1 night tripm with one of my friend. i took a High Speed Rail (HSR) from Taipei which cost around NT2000+ round trip. i reached ChiaYi station at 10.30 after taking a 1 and a half hour ride from Taipei. The shuttle bus from the HSR to Alishan cost NT250 and takes 2.5 hours. it only serves 2 trips per day at 10.30 and 11.40. we took the 11.40 bus up. the bus is small and only serves sitting passengers. i suggest that you call in to reserve the bus. if you are unsure you can always ask the passenger service counter there who is very friendly. there is a 7-11 up there to buy stuff, and we stayed at the post office lodging which is very close to the main town and has a nice view of the area and near the railway station. the important part is the tour, MR. sunshine, as so he calls himself is stationed in front of the 7-11 at 4-7pm daily for reservation. he drives a bus up the next morning. it cost us NT300 including the NT 100 deposit upfront. it was very worth the money as he would drive up high above the clouds to see the sunrise. we woke up at 3pm and the meeting time is at 4pm. we advise you buy some bread for breakfast and a cuppa hot drink from the vendors at the 7-11. It takes around 4 hours. and we got to witness the sunrise magnificently and also have a chance to visit the local villagers to but some of their products which consists of honey, preserved fruits and crackers. we left the place at around 2 pm after that.||it was an amazing trip and i highly recommend if you are travelling with a group of friends and really want to catch the sunrise! you will not be...
Read moreMy family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at the activity center! I went with my parents and stayed for a night. They offered us a 6 bed room, since the 3 bedrooms were undergoing constructions. The room was nice, spacious and included a newly renovated ensuite. ||They offered a delicious dinner meal for NT$200 per person, I highly recommend going for the dinner, as there wasn't anywhere for us to cook. The buffet breakfast was also very good- included congee, congee sides, assorted stirfry veggies, toast, plain steam bun, hot soy milk and coffee! It was a great breakfast after a morning walk.||Best part about the activity center - steps away from the activity center is an area where you can look at the mountains and valley, we were very lucky to witness a beautiful sunset after breakfast! I would say the sunset beats the sunrise we saw the day after on Alishan.||Keep in mind - the activity center is only accessible via car along a rough and windy road, it is also about 20-30mins away from the Alishan Train station. Keep this in mind when you're planning on taking the train early in the morning for the sunrise. My family woke up at 3:10am for the 4:10am...
Read moreThe hot weather was getting to me in Taipei, so I planned a 3 days short trip with 3 friends to the Ali mountain. We took high speed rail to Chiayi, than was met by our hired driver/guide to start our venture. She was very nice and knowledgeable. She took us to visit various sightseeing places and introduced some really great food on our way to the Ali mountain. We stayed in the 4 person wood cabin in the Alishan Youth Activity Center. To our surprise, it was very new, clean, spacious and had everything we needed, included Wifi. Not far from the cabin we were able to take some beautiful pictures. We went on some trail walking to breath in some clean air. The diner was a set menu, had 8 dishes and 1 soup. We ate so much food that requires us to walk some more to observed the beautiful sky with many stars. You can also rent the Karaoke room to have...
