This was a very disappointing experience, we first checked into room 6319 and discovered that the bathtub was extremely dirty and had black mold growing on the corners and the edges and there were broken tiles in the tub, as you can see from the photos. There were other faults in the room such as beds that had no headboards and you had to lean against electrical sockets, and stains on the floor. I spoke with reception and they agreed that they would move us to another room, which we did, and on the surface it was in a much better condition, we were now late to meet with the rest of our party and had to leave after dropping off our bags. On returning to our room at 21:30 we started to notice a few things. The bed was not made correctly and the under cover had been left folded across the bottom of the bed. see photo There were human hairs in the bed, my hair is grey and my wife has short curly hair. See photo. There was damage to a floorboard next to the bed, they had attempted to repair with sellotape, and failed. See photo The drinking glass in the bathroom was absolutely filthy and had dry water stains. See photo When the hot water was run in the sink, the water came out brown, as you can see, it took nearly 10 minutes to run clear. I then went back to reception and asked to see the manager on duty, there was no manager at that point, but I was told I would be able to see them in the morning. Having shown the various issues the lady did suggest we move rooms again, which I declined as it was now nearly 10pm and this would have been the 3rd room of our 1 day stay. I met with the manager in the morning and showed him the various issues which he agreed were unsatisfactory and asked what he could do to make it better. I explained that we were there for one night only and that he should make the room complimentary, he refused to do this and instead offered me a free cup of coffee from the coffee shop!!!!!!!!. Most of the facilities were closed, the KTV room was closed, the attraction such as the high walkway was only open for very short specific times, the hot spring pools were in poor condition, two were hot, two were not, and the main pool was drained and empty. My overall impression of the Atayal resort is that it has had its heyday (20 years ago) and now needs so much maintenance that the management can not keep up with it. The "Palace" was dirty and had many broken fittings, most all of the water features were empty and not working, broken concrete slabs. The staff were trying their best but you can clearly see that they are continuously firefighting with complaints from guests, and some have given up and just do the minimum to get by. The actual area that the resort is set in has a huge potential, the grounds could be beautiful, but it needs heavy investment to get this property back to a 4-star rating that it currently has, at this point in time I paid NTD3,060 for a 2-star room. We will NOT...
Read moreNice room. Microscopic TV. I’m not sure how it’s meant to be seen from the bed. Hot spring bathtub/ shower has hot water only from 5pm to midnight. People don’t shower in the morning ? Also hot-spring bathtub had loose tiles.. so the water would keep escaping :/
Nice nature. The whole established/ surroundings/have been absolutely let down.. nothing functions. Outdoor hot springs don’t get turned on unless there are 40 + hotel guests. Everything is falling apart. The feeling of an abandonment is equal to smth that happens after an atomic bomb explosion. Felt like I was in Chernobyl.. water ponds have not been cleaned for years ..
Skywalk / sky bridge glass floor has been sealed with duct tape ! I mean for real ?
HORRIBLE breakfast.. that doesn’t even deserve one star. They had two TWO drink options : cold water and sweet tea.. food options beyond horrible and yucky tasting. Breakfast is a part of a hotel experience....
Read moreThere's a small "train" service that will bring guests and luggages up the resort. The front of the resort are older individual wooden huts and there is a newer European styled building (Atayal Palace) at the back that contains hotel rooms. There is a central communal hot and cold springs, so do bring your swimming trunks/costumes along and your swimming caps. There is also a garden and some amusement rides. There is a stage area where there will be performances by the Atayal tribes at selected timings. Guest can even participate in one of...
