First off this is lovely place! I’m just sharing this as they need to have better communication of the differences between the tent area and hotel. I assumed all the perks were the same since there was a mere $8 price difference between the two and the tent seemed more fun which is why I booked it. However, you do not get access to the hot spring baths without paying extra! There is not a public hot spring like I thought but if you have a room, it includes your own private hot spring tub. I ended up paying about $15 to use the private one on the roof (which was incredible and very worth it!) I just wish I knew ahead of time. The biggest thing was both rooms mention that a continental breakfast is included. Turns out the one for the tents is a to go bag with a sandwich. I started eating it in the dining area but then was told by staff that breakfast in that room was for hotel guests only and I have to eat it outside in the tent area? Guests staying in the rooms got served a proper breakfast in a dining area and I got a to go bag that I have to go eat outside away from the hotel. This massive difference for a mere $8 is wild to me and wanted other people to know these things as I wish I had just booked a normal room here!
Lastly service was great. I got there on my bike hoping for dinner (you have to reserve 24 hrs in advance) but since that wasn’t an option they booked me a taxi for free into town to get some food.
Overall highly recommend this place but only the rooms...

Front desk service: Service at the front desk (tall man with glasses) is aloof and rude. the person on the phone said he spoke English however was not able to communicate. When communicating in Mandarin-Chinese he was still brusk and not helpful. I had three luggages (as I was traveling with my family), and the front desk attendant just watched me struggle instead of opening the door, or offering to help.
He did not clearly communicate the benefits of the facilities including inclusive happy hour with wine, coffee, tea; inclusive bikes.
The person at the front desk (short female) on the second day was friendly and pleasant. When speaking English to her, she tried to be helpful; and in mandarin, she was professional and friendly.
All other service: The person serving happy hour was very friendly; chatted with my aunt and tried hard to make all guests feel welcome.
The server at breakfast was quick and professional.
Rooms: Rooms were great. Large in size and well equipped with robes, snacks. The onsen water was perfect.
Food: The silence manor is very generous with portions, though some improvements could be made in terms of technique. Breakfast was not hot.
Location: In a deep agricultural region, so not the easiest to get to. Roads are dimly lit (if lit at all) so drive safe! (This did not affect my overall perception of the...
Read moreIf you are looking for a quiet retreat with in-room hot spring tub, this is a great place. It is a large grounds away from town. The dinner was far beyond what we expected and the breakfast was very good too. The meals are from a menu, not a buffet. They have a free shuttle to town, though it is maybe an 8 minute taxi ride. ||We spoke with one of the co-owners, who has good English. They recently installed some tents (more like yurts) and two air stream trailers for a "camping" experience. The tents are spacious and have A/C. We did not see inside a trailer. He said they have an executive chef to plan the meals.||The rooms are nice with good soaking tubs and showers.||From the hotel, you can take a walk to the north then south out to the Hongye River. We were told that if you then go north along the river, you will come to a small forested area that is nice to walk in. If you go south along the river, we were told there are packs of feral dogs (which do not seem to bother people with poles), and you could loop back around to the hotel.||The hotel has a dog, or maybe I should say a dog has the hotel. His name is "little tiger", due to his stripes. Supposedly, no one at the hotel feeds him or claims him, the dog just adopted the hotel. He will often accompany you on you walks around the area, at least until he...
