Taichung Harbor Hotel — Hotel in Taichung

It was the vision of the owners of Taichung Harbor Hotel to provide a grand hotel for the visitors to the industrious city of Wuqi. Until it’s opening, there were no hotels like it. The hotel certainly lives up to its vision. Even after it’s opening, there’s still no other hotel like it! I have stayed in this hotel for a total of Three weeks. I have stayed in various rooms including the Presidential Suite and have tried all of their amenities. The Taiwan Travel Bureau have given them four stars because it’s not a resort nor does it have a swimming pool. That's why they gave Harbor Hotel four instead of five stars. Those features will not affect my review so I believe they deserve five stars. ||This is truly a luxurious hotel! The only downside is that it is a bit far from Taichung City proper. However, it’s a NT$25 (US$1) 45 minute bus ride to the large malls of Mitsukoshi Department Store and Top City. They may have shuttles available but I like to do things on my time.||The staff, right from the bellboy, to reception to the restaurant were always cheerful and ready to help. Also we thought the spa was lovely and the prices very reasonable. We enjoyed our stay especially the outstanding service! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. ||All the rooms are spacious, luxuriously appointed and very clean. The hotel is very nicely furnished and maintained Even the toilets in all the rooms have the Washlets, a Japanese style toilet seat that heats up in winter time and is able to wash you in those areas if you want to.||Be sure to take full advantage of the complementary breakfast buffet. It’s way better than any continental breakfast you get in the States. Since you are in Asia, you should try the local cuisine such as freshly made soy milk, rice with pork sung, rice porridge, and fresh local fruits. Stayed for 7 nights. The hotel is spacious and clean. The rooms are large and staff helpful and friendly. Price on weekends and weekdays different by about 800 TWD Airport pick up and drop from Taichung airport is complementary. Stayed in room 808 which did not have a great view and facing the rear side of another building. Allocated twin beds joined together,but later upon they put a thick mattress on the two beds to join together as requested. Was informed they did not have room availability and my booking was for twin beds only. Was expecting to be moved to King bed room upon request but that didn't happen. The location is bit away from the main city and there is nothing nearby if you would like to walk. Mini bar is complementary and it was replenished on some days and not on other days. Couple of snacks and cold drink cans provided. Iron with iron board is not provided in rooms and Needs to be asked for. They insist the same to be returned in 1 or 2 hour when requested for the first time .I used their laundry service and requested for iron on day 3. They never took it back till day 7! Only did not not like the lack of food availability between 2 pm to 5 pm. Went to the restaurant just after 2 pm and was told the kitchen is closed and offered only ready made salad for lunch which I refused. Also checked with reception as I didn't have lunch. They said it will only open at 5 pm and nothing else available. The went out looking for food at nearby Pizza Hut and other time 7/11. Bit surprising that such big hotel cannot even Provide a burger or snacks between 2 pm to 5 pm and expects guests to look for options outside. Other than that, the hotel has nothing on the menu except some pasta for vegetarian food. Breakfast has decent options on offer including some veggies. This trip came to Gaomei Wetland. The Taichung Harbor Hotel has electric parking spaces that can be reserved. EVALUE charges 6.5$ per unit. Although there was a problem with the charging pile at first and it could not be charged smoothly, the service staff immediately actively helped to troubleshoot the problem. It took a while. Flaws do not cover up strengths. The hotel has a service for arranging surprises for birthdays at a premium. For 999$, you can get a mascot doll (Ou Heiyo), a towel cake, a glowing HBD, and a balloon tree. You can also directly exchange for desserts by showing your birthday certificate (we changed to cheese) cake). There are different types of pillows that you can replace to sleep well. The breakfast is diverse, but the protein is a bit lacking. It's a pity that you have to cruise several times to get different proteins. It's very considerate that children will get stickers when leaving after breakfast. We also use the children's playroom FUN World, which is small but has everything you need. The electric cars that children can drive are all new. What we didn't use was the hotel shuttle bus, which went to Mitsui outlet and Gaomei Wetland...etc., which was very considerate. All the service staff are very kind and courteous, and the service is very attentive and warm. When a child falls and breaks his skin, he immediately helps disinfect the wound. After a while, he meets the child and asks if the child's wound is okay. These two days and one night were a rare and wonderful experience. Thank you Taichung Harbor Hotel for allowing us to leave...
