Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport is a convenient and stylish hotel with standout staff and good amenities. While the location is unbeatable for airport travelers and the gym and Chinese restaurant offer pleasant experiences, the room layout, a few missteps in service, and pricing issues hold it back from excellence. Rated: 3/5.
Full Review: For many travelers passing through Taiwan, Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport offers an appealing combination of modern aesthetics, convenience, and well-trained staff, but not without its fair share of drawbacks. I’d describe it as a solid transit hotel—with premium touches—but one that could benefit from some adjustments to better justify its price point.
Let’s start with the positives: the staff are the hotel’s clear highlight. From check-in to checkout, every encounter felt warm, professional, and genuinely thoughtful. This isn’t just surface-level politeness—you get the sense that the hotel hires carefully and trains well. That sense of hospitality goes a long way, especially after a long flight or in preparation for one.
The location is undeniably strategic. Its proximity to the airport and the availability of a reliable shuttle service make it ideal for those needing an easy layover or early-morning flight access. The lobby and certain parts of the hotel are quite photogenic as well—sleek, clean lines and modern tones that would look great in any travel snapshot.
However, the room design leaves something to be desired—particularly when it comes to privacy. The bathroom layout is a point of contention for me: the shower has a shaded glass wall and lack of curtain fail to deliver a sense of personal space that many travelers, especially those not traveling solo, will likely prefer. In a hotel aiming for a premium feel, this feels like a misstep. The hotel should have either designed a standard bathroom with a locked door, or have the shower have its own shaded glass on both sides, rather than just on one.
The gym is serviceable and surprisingly well-equipped, with machines, free weights, and cardio options. It checks the boxes for a quality workout space. That said, the sign-in sheet at the door felt a bit archaic, and while not a dealbreaker, it adds a slightly bureaucratic tone to an otherwise relaxed environment.
Dining at the Chinese restaurant on the second floor was enjoyable, though a little on the pricey side, which is expected for a hotel restaurant. The food arrived in good time, flavors were on point, and the ambiance fit the upscale tone they’re aiming for. A small blemish: one dish from our order was forgotten—something that was corrected, but a lapse worth mentioning.
One of the more disappointing issues came from the water quality in one of our rooms. There was a slight mold-like odor from the shower, and even the bottled water had an odd taste—something I hadn’t anticipated from a Hyatt-branded property. It’s not a widespread problem (as others in our party didn’t have the issue), but it’s worth flagging.
Lastly, the price point feels steep considering these flaws. While the branding and proximity might command a premium, guests should reasonably expect a more refined, error-free experience at this tier.
Hyatt Regency Taoyuan International Airport is a hotel that gets many things right, especially in terms of staff excellence and airport accessibility, but it falters in areas that matter when you’re paying good money—privacy, consistency, and value for money. For a quick overnight stay or layover, it’s certainly viable, but I’d recommend setting expectations...
Read moreA few days ago I stayed for two nights at the Taipei Airport Novotel in a very comfortable, large suite. The clerks at the front desk were very personable, efficient, and spoke rather good English, an important consideration for someone from the USA who knows nothing more than “thank you” in Chinese. The hotel has a very large, buffet-style restaurant on the main floor which is open for breakfast and lunch. (I’m not sure about dinner since I never went for that.) At both mealtimes there is an assortment of both western and Chinese cuisine. The food, both styles, was quite tasty. There are several chefs standing behind the large hot food prep area. I believe that they can cook some dishes or soups to order, but I never tried that. There is very ample seating and waitresses promptly whisk used plates away. There are also desserts available, including self-serve Haagen Dazs ice dream. I believe there is another restaurant, but I did not try it.||The suite itself was quite ample in size. My king bed was extremely comfortable and had good pillows. The bathroom is also very large with both a tub, a separate huge shower, a toilet (in a separate glassed cubicle), and a double sink. The one problem I found with the bath is that its faucet did not direct the water INTO the tub, but onto the very wide lip of the tub. By the time I discovered that, I had a large amount of water on the floor. I sopped it up as best as I could and housekeeping came up promptly to clean it up more thoroughly. Apparently, at least in my suite, one can only fill the tub using the hand-held wand which is rather slow. The shower is probably a better choice. The water gets quite hot and the pressure is strong with the handheld shower device, With the large rainfall showerhead, it works fine, but, because of its size, the pressure is only moderate; there is a separate shower wand which, being smaller, has very good pressure. There were plenty of towels and also washcloths. I found the room to be very quiet and really did not hear hall sounds. Then again, I may have been exhausted from the 16 hour flight with 2 hours of sleep. Anyway, I slept! ||Since I do not drive, I used the hotel’s airport shuttle to get back to the airport. It leaves on the half hour and takes only 5 minutes to drop you off at the terminal. To GET the shuttle FROM the airport, though, one has to be careful. While it picks up in the general section that says hotel shuttles, the pickup spot is NOT exactly where the the airport signage indicates; it is about 100 ft away. Not far at all, but you could miss being picked up. I was, so I took a taxi for only a few dollars anyway.||Overall, my experience at the hotel was really good and, were I ever flying in to Taipei again, I would stay at the...

The room was an absolute dream—spacious, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable. The bathroom was exceptional, with a large, luxurious shower featuring fantastic water pressure, and I loved that it was set apart in its own private space. The attention to detail in the room was impeccable, making it feel like a true home away from home.
The pool area was a haven of relaxation. From the sauna to the steam room, Jacuzzi, and the serene atmosphere, it was the perfect place to unwind. I must give a special mention to Andrew, who works in the pool area. Not only was he incredibly kind and attentive, but he also handled a situation with another guest being loud with such professionalism and care—it made all the difference in ensuring a peaceful environment.
The staff overall were truly exceptional. Zee went above and beyond to ensure we had all the information we needed during our stay, always with a warm smile and a helpful attitude. And Dennis in the restaurant was simply wonderful! He brought such a positive energy to our dining experience, making it even more enjoyable and memorable.
The food itself was delicious, with standout recommendations like the pizza and the cheesecake, which were both absolutely top-notch. The cocktails were fantastic as well—bold, flavorful, and expertly made. While the food was great, I did feel that for a five-star hotel, the menu could offer a bit more flair and variety, especially at the price point. That said, everything we had was well-prepared, and the service made it worth every moment.
One highlight I can’t forget is the lounge on the 9th floor. It’s a stunning space with an incredible view of the new terminal, adding a unique touch to the stay. While there’s an extra charge to access it, I wish this had been made clearer during the booking process (perhaps something for booking.com to improve), but it’s definitely worth it if you choose to upgrade.
Overall, this hotel is an absolute gem, combining luxurious facilities with world-class service. It’s undeniably beautiful, but what truly sets it apart is the staff. Their dedication, friendliness, and attention to detail turned what could have been a great stay into an extraordinary one. I can’t recommend this place highly enough, and I’m already looking forward to returning...
