For our first safari, we were looking for an ambiance that resembled the romanticized Africa of days gone by. We were looking for outstanding accommodations, looking for stellar service and we wanted a fantastic location not too far from Tarangire National Park. Ecoscience did not disappoint. On our arrival we were greeted warmly by our host and introduced to two of the Masai men who keep the camp safe around the clock - they keep watch because the animals will come right up to the camp! Our first night there we could hear hyenas and elephants! The lodge itself is comfortable and well appointed with plenty of seating areas that are perfect for sharing stories and sundowners at the end of the day. Tents were clean, comfortable and wonderfully decorated. There was plenty of hot water for showers. After cleaning ourselves up, we made our way to the mess tent where we were served a generous, delicious dinner by candlelight and again, staff was attentive and kind and we were made to feel like family. Dinner and breakfast in the main area was a lovely experience, with a strong focus on hospitality. As vegans, the dinner and breakfast menus were adjusted to meet our needs, and the food was delicious. There was some confusion for our lunch boxes with some meat being included, but that was likely a mistake. There's a watering hole 40-50 feet from the lodge that elephants and zebra visited multiple times during our stay - so lovely watching them from our personal lodge and from the main area during dinner time.
