Heart and Soul Lodge|After travelling from Kilimanjaro International Airport to spend our first day of Safari in Tarangire National Park (about 3 hours, via a stop in Arusha), we subsequently travelled for a little under an hour and half to the Heart and Soul Lodge … well placed for an hour or so travel to Ngorongoro Conservation Area the next day. The first impressions were very positive. It was an attractive enclosed compound, with a main building housing reception and, upstairs, the bar and restaurant, with a range of well-spaced individual bungalows among the beautifully laid out and well-maintained gardens. It was almost a shame that our Safari programme meant that we only stayed one night, so we didn’t get much opportunity to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere in the gardens or to have more than a token dip in the lovely swimming pool.|The spotlessly clean bungalows were well furnished, with a nice shower-room, with plenty of hot water, complimentary shampoo/conditioner/shower gel and a hair dryer. There were more than adequate power points in the bungalow, with UK plug sockets and USB outlets. Wi-Fi didn’t work in the rooms but was reliable in the main building. There was complimentary water in the room and a fridge.|Dinner was served in the restaurant. All of the staff were very attentive and the food was good, with a good choice of dishes, including vegetarian choices. Complimentary filtered water was served with meals, but other soft drinks, wine, spirits, beers and cocktails were all available and were reasonably priced – 2 cocktails and 2 beers cost us $22 dollars.|Breakfast was buffet style with a good selection of cereals, bread/pastries, homemade jams, fruits, juices and a hot selection; and the packed lunch was typical of what we received from each of our camps/lodges when on Safari, i.e. a rice bowl, a piece of chicken, a salad filled bread roll a cake and a juice box.|Beside reception, there is a small shop, with a small selection of local t-shirts, souvenirs and knickknacks, and as good as most of what we came across elsewhere on our trip and priced very competitively compared to others.|I would not hesitate recommending Heart and Soul Lodge and would very happily stay...
Read moreThis was a wonderful stay in our 10 day safari. The property is a restful retreat- some notes:|-The only hotel on our trip that did dinner a la carte, as opposed to buffet, which was a really nice treat. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. Meals are served upstairs on a beautiful patio.|-The property itself is gorgeous - green, lush, a nice pool, hammocks, etc.|-The rooms were large, clean and comfortable, almost like tiny cabins. Beds were comfortable, water was hot, wifi worked well. |-Staff all nice and welcoming.||Zero critical comments - I suppose if you are driving yourself, you might find that the lodging is not actually in the national park, and the road up is quite rugged; we were with a driver, so we did not care. I will also add that the robe in the room was so nice, I bought one from the small shop area in...
Read moreWhat a beautiful place Heart and Soul lodge is! We booked it as part of our safari and we’re not disappointed. Is was bliss from the minute we entered. I rarely feel at home somewhere but here I felt at home instantly. The staff were kind and friendly and really wanted us ot relax and enjoy! We were tired and thirsty so check in happened at the bar. The view was spectacular. The lodge is meticulously clean, the rooms big, the bathrooms big and clean and all lovingly decorated. The beds were comfy. And dinner - excellent quality of homemade food using their local ingredients. The pool was amazing, I loved the robes… breakfast was equally wonderful setting is up again for another day of safari.
