Read moreIsoitok Camp is a piece of heaven on Earth, where we wanted to stay much longer than our three nights. Beautiful and genuine surroundings where high standards of comfort entwine with nature and the masai way of life. We’ve never felt as welcomed, as relaxed, and as well looked after as we did here with Joseph and his staff. It was absolutely amazing to sleep in a luxurious tent, listening to the sounds of the bush, while all the time knowing that brave and capable masai warriors watched over the camp. The location was perfect: only a short ”African massage” drive from the main road but still long enough to feel that you are in the middle of nowhere in a bush, and also close enough to several national parks. We appreciated and were impressed by the environmental thinking and ecological way of running the place, as well as the co-existing and working together with the nearby masai people. If you think you need to lower your expectations of food in bush conditions, think again. Food was equal to any fine dining restaurant, served with impeccable professionality, and on top of that the ease and friendliness that made you feel like you were at your best friend’s home. A memory to cherish forever, hopefully we can return one day. This is truly...
Read moreWe had an exceptional stay at Isotok - it's a truly magical place with wonderful staff and outstanding food. The tent was beautifully furnished and very spacious with comfortable bedding and a large bathroom. We had the pleasure of meeting Chris (the owner) and hearing about how he started Isotok and how it works in partnership with the local Maasai community. The communal areas are comfy and welcoming - highlights were chatting to the Joseph (Isotok's Manager) in the bar area and relaxing in the elevated seating area to watch sunset. There are piles of interesting books to browse and binoculars you can borrow to watch the incredible birdlife that Isotok attracts (red head fire finch, doves and cordon-bleu were wow..wish I could name more!). Another highlight was the medicine walk and sundowner with our Maasai guide (Mnavan?) who was so interesting and entertaining. The camp is actively sustainable and keeps environmental impacts to a minimum. On our last night we were surprised with a lovely cake to celebrate two big birthdays in the family, and the staff sang the most beautiful birthday song (Jambo Bwana - Hakuna Matata) -a heart warming and memorable end to...
