A place that feels like visiting family friends.
Hosts: Miranda and Rocco run their guest house like a big family with one common goal: Making the guests time as memorable and pleasant as possible. The extra pancake in the breakfast box to go, the headlamp for the night hike or the late check-out option - everything was offered to us for free and without asking. On top, the entire team just seems to have fun at work and that atmosphere immediately catches on to the guests. Acommodation: Small self-built compound with strong Wi-Fi. Our room for two was very spacious with a large bathroom. It’s not the four seasons, but you have space, a fan and mosquito nets. Location: Right by an authentic Maasai village and Lake Natron. Perfect for a hike up Ol Donyo Lengai over night, one of the most intense experiences one can have. Thank you again to Laiza, our guide organized through the Guest House. They also tailor safari trips beyond Lake Natron. Food: Tasty, colorful, local, plenty and tailored to the desires...

We had multiple breakdowns and issues with our vehicle and they were always ready to help at great inconvenience for them. We did the Ol'Doinyo volcano climb arranged from the guest house which ended up being one of the most amazing experiences in my life. You start in the darkness under the moon and starry sky, to reach the summit to see bubbling magma (safe and only if lucky) followed by the sunrise revealing all the surrounding landscapes as far as the eye can see.
We have so many memories and experiences from our 2 days at Lake Natron.
The only downside was that we did not have more days...
Read moreI arranged a private trip to see the flamingos. Miranda was very responsive and informative on Whats App. Arranged private transportation for me from Arusha. This is an eco-responsible, culturally sensitive family guesthouse. Staff are very friendly and helpful. My guide and driver were professional and fun. They tailored our schedule to my preferences and made me feel comfortable and protected. I recommend you do your homework and come with appropriate expectations and an open mind. This is a very remote area where standard infrastructure and utilities are intermittent, but Roko and Miranda do their best to accommodate guests . All the village, district and central government fees support the local people and make this area accessible...
