A Truly Unique and Heartwarming Experience with the Maasai Tribe at Eco Boma 🌍💫||We’ve just returned from an unforgettable four-day stay with the Maasai tribe at Eco Boma, and I can say without hesitation that it was the experience of a lifetime. From the moment we arrived, we were embraced by the vibrant Maasai community, staying in a traditional mud hut that allowed us to immerse ourselves fully in their culture.||Our time was filled with incredible experiences, including visiting the local school, meeting the village’s medicine man, and spending time with the children. Watching my son interact and play with them was both fun and heartwarming—it was so special for him to learn about this rich culture first-hand. ||We also had the chance to try traditional Maasai activities like throwing spears, making beads, and learning how to start a fire. A memorable part of our stay were two walks—one at sunset and another at sunrise—where we explored the stunning surroundings and learned more about the land and its wildlife. Every evening, we could dance under the stars with the Maasai, which was a magical experience, particularly for our 7-year-old. The food was simple yet delicious, truly a taste of the land.||The staff at Eco Boma were incredibly kind and accommodating, always ensuring we were comfortable and well taken care of. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and their warmth added to the overall experience.||What made this experience even more meaningful was knowing that 30% of the cost of our stay directly supports the local school. It felt good to know that our visit was helping the next generation of Maasai children.||We also booked two safaris arranged by Eco Boma—one to Tarangire National Park and another to Lake Manyara National Park. For $900, including an incredible guide and lunch, it was absolutely worth every penny. The same guide picked us up from Kilimanjaro airport for $150, and the hotel arranged a seamless taxi service to near Arusha for $100. These thoughtful arrangements made the trip even more enjoyable.||The setting itself was peaceful and unique. We slept in a comfortable bed and loved waking to the sounds of the rooster, the schoolchildren’s songs, and the birds. It was more than just a stay—it was an immersion into a completely different way of life that we will cherish forever.||I wholeheartedly recommend Eco Boma to anyone seeking a meaningful, immersive, and enriching experience. It's especially perfect for families with children. You...

The lodge itself is a stunning blend of traditional Maasai Bomas and modern eco-friendly amenities. The rooms were clean, beautifully decorated, and provided all the comforts one could wish for, all while maintaining a close connection to nature. Read moreOur safari began and ended at the Makuyuni Maasai Eco Boma. It is an incredible place. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed into the village by Maasai warriors and "mamas" with traditional song and dance. Our group was included with many of the community members around a fire (roasting a goat) where we learned the history and cultural practices of the village. ||Meals were plentiful, delicious, and nicely prepared. The staff was attentive and clearly had each guest's experience as his or her top priority. We especially enjoyed being able to tour the Nashipay Primary School and meet students and teachers. We were able to watch a lesson and see the children playing games during physical education class. The children sang songs, recited recent new learning they had been doing, and showed some of their individual work. Meeting many of the children was a true highlight, and the joy they exude in their learning was contagious. ||The accommodations were outstanding. Our beds were very comfortable and the private bathroom was well equipped. One aspect that stood out to us was the authenticity of the boma. We were truly immersed in the traditional Maasai experience. The dining area was spacious and offered places to eat as a group, relax, socialize, and play games while overlooking the beautiful rolling countryside of Makuyuni. ||All proceeds for the Eco Boma go to support the children of the Nashipay Primary School. This was an excellent complement to our safari. Viewing wildlife and experiencing the unique landscapes of the Serengeti plain are sure highlights of any trip to this region of Tanzania, but most of our group of 25 overwhelmingly said that our visit to the Eco Boma and Nashipay School was the highlight of the trip. We highly recommend spending time at the Maasai Eco Boma for its warm hospitality, cultural experience, and support of the mission of the Nashipay Primary School. It was an...
