What a wonderful start to our trip to Tanzania! Such a beautiful, peaceful place to stay and the service and food were the best we encountered during our 2 week trip. We were delayed coming through immigration, but the driver from the lodge was still there waiting for us at Kilimanjaro airport with a smile. Even though we didn't get to the lodge until after 10 and all of the other guests were asleep, we were graciously served our dinner on the patio. I'm sure we were keeping the staff up late but they couldn't have been nicer. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the grounds beautiful. We enjoyed waking up to see the horses grazing on the lawn outside of our garden room. We saw so many animals on our walk along the lodge's trails including monkeys and a giant slug. The lodge makes its own electricity, and you can walk right by the hydroelectric plant on the hiking trails, really interesting to see and very much captured our children's interest. The food is served family style, and although they are clearly making an effort to please families there on Safari, there were also some local and traditional touches with sauces, jams , and sides that we did not find at any of the other lodges in which we stayed. My entire family and the other family traveling with us all agreed that we enjoyed our meals here the most of anywhere else we ate on our trip.
The gift shop is excellent, truly the nicest shop we saw. I wish I had gone with my inclination to buy all of the souvenirs there rather than hesitating since it was the first shop we visited in Tanzania.
The pool was beautiful, and long enough to swim some laps.
To make our already excellent impression even better, they continued to take care of us even after we checked out. The day after we left for safari we discovered that our teenagers had both left their swimsuits drying in the bathroom at Ngare Sero. A quick email later Ngare Sero had offered to drop off their swimsuits at the hotel in Arusha (for no charge) where we would be staying the night before our flight home. I would stay here again without hesitation Thank you again for a...
Read moreWe reserved a two-night stay at Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge for February 11th and 12th, 2024. Upon arrival, chosen after some research, I was greeted with a disappointing welcome unlike any I had previously encountered. The receptionist lacked warmth and failed to offer any welcoming gestures or explanations, simply directing me to fill out a form with an indifferent attitude.
Upon settling into my room with the intention of relaxing and contacting my family, I discovered there was no WiFi available, adding a comedic twist to the situation. Upon contacting reception for assistance, I was initially informed that a technician had resolved the issue, only to later discover, upon contacting again after 7:30, that no technician was available due to it being Sunday. Throughout my stay, WiFi remained unavailable.
The property's management was notably poor, evidenced by the outdated and malfunctioning shower fixtures. I encountered issues such as the absence of a bidet shower in the bathroom and inadequate maintenance of the shower facilities. The shower provided only two extremes of water temperature: extremely cold or scalding hot, with no option for a moderate temperature, resulting in a less-than-ideal showering experience. Additionally, the absence of a hair dryer was notable.
Despite these drawbacks, there were some positive aspects to highlight. The property itself was impressive and enjoyable, with efficient and high-quality laundry service, satisfactory food offerings, and exceptional massage services, which provided the best massage I've experienced in Tanzania.
Activities such as horse riding, boat riding, and walking were thoroughly enjoyable and provided memorable experiences. While I may not opt to stay at Ngare Sero again, I might consider visiting or recommending it for a short tour lasting...
Read moreMy airpod pros were stolen out from under my pillow at Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge. The Airpods are trackable on my iphone and I was able to ping their location to Ngare Sero Lodge. I alerted staff and management, as well as Altezza Travel (my travel company) and they helped me look for them in the room and all along the premises, but they were unable to be found. The room had been cleaned and new sheets had been placed on the bed, but the cleaning staff stated that they had not seen the airpods. They were in a bright pink, glitter case. They could not have been missed. Rooms were okay, but lots of ants and other bugs inside. Grounds and gardens were beautiful and well maintained. Meals were fantastic. Customer service was lacking. Front desk staff were always rude, never smiled, and several times they tried to overcharge us from the stated prices of things (massage, nails, alcohol). Wifi is pretty much nonexistent. We stayed here through our travel company, Altezza. I would never stay here again due to the dishonesty and unfriendliness...
