A great stay, close to the start of your Serengeti journey through the Nogorongoro crater. We were welcomed with Hibiscus juice, biscuits and cold towels, and check in completed outside with the stunning views of the mountain. The hotel boasts a beautiful large swimming pool, which we enjoyed cooling off in after our long day Safari. The pool is open until 19:30, which is great, because you have time after getting back from Safari to enjoy it. Alcohol and other drinks are available at a very low cost, which can be served at the pool too. We particularly like that the accommodations policy, is that the bar is open until the last guest goes to bed! Our Accomodation was amazing. A lodge style property, overlooking the mountain, with a large poster bed and bathroom including shower and bathtub. Dinner and breakfast are buffet style with multiple options to enjoy. Out of all the properties were stayed in Tanzania, it perhaps wasn’t the best tasting food, with the setting reminding you of a school dinner area. However this did not deter the great feeling of our stay. We would definitely...
Read moreWe LOVED our stay at Marera Mountain View Lodge. The landscape is plush greenery and their gardens are spectacular, growing everything from avocados to kale. We thoroughly enjoyed walking around the entire beautiful property and seeing all the agriculture. The pool area is lovely with beautiful views and has drink service. The rooms are extremely spacious with modern beautifully decorated touches including high ceilings, a large soaking tub (in addition to a large shower), and plenty of storage. The meals were all delicious and the bar had the best cocktails out of anywhere we stayed (highly recommend the Marera Dawa). The staff was excellent. My only comment is that they do not provide accommodations for the safari guides (which all our other places did), which felt a bit wrong. I felt bad having our guide drop us off and then him having to travel somewhere else to stay and then travel back to get us in the morning. The guides are so integral to the safaris it seems they should get the opportunity to stay at this...
Read moreAfter a busy first day of safari, our guide turned off the paved road, and we headed up a narrow winding rutted dirt road. After several miles of climbing we turned into a fenced compound. A beautiful stone courtyard greeted us. We were met at the door with warm, wet washcloths to wipe our hands. We were seated and a fresh squeezed juice was presented. The facility was explained and a couple of porters took us to our room. A huge room with two queen beds, and a beautifully appointed bathroom with two sinks, shower, separate claw foot bathtub, separate toilet, all done in polished tile. From the front raised patio, I could overlook the manicured grounds and views down the valley. Meals were served in the main building, buffet style. Free fast WiFi in the main building, so after a long day of safari , it was nice to sit on the patio, drinking a cold beer from the bar while...
