The Olkeri Camp experience was exceptional. The people were fantastic & the property and facilities were great. And that is the order I want to emphasize - the service and people, then the infrastructure.
We entered the site and we were warmly greeted by Loshiva, the Facility Manager, and the staff. We received an orientation and all our questions were answered. Lashiva and his people were so sincere, genuine, and helpful. They really made us feel important and special.
We had a lunch prepared by Dustin. Dustin is a magician. We had a pumpkin soup to start that was amazing. Regarding the main, I am surprised to start by mentioning the salad as I don't often even mention vegetables, but it was unbelievably good, as were the grilled vegetables, chicken, and roasted potatoes. That was the beginning and every meal was a special experience. Such a talented man and crew.
The facilites are very nice. Our room was large well appointed, the bed was comfortable, it was so clean, and it had a great view. Although the site runs on solar, there was a lot of power and we had no concerns with running out of power.
The internet was the best we have had on our trip so far without any concerns of a loss of connectivity.
If anyone tells you the property is too far from the park, don't believe that. It is a bit of a drive, but we saw a lot of animals on the way - giraffe, ostriches, and antelope of every kind, and there were clear signs of lions in the area of the lodge, and we knew they were around because the black faced monkeys were signalling a preditor's presence. And it only took 20 minutes give or take to get to Tarangire park.
I have no hesitation in saying that if you choose to stay here, you won't be...
Read moreThe Olkeri camp is in a wonderful location, completely surrounded by nature, baobab trees, all kinds of animals (zebras, elephants, buffalo) coming to the water hole in front of the dining room. In the area surrounding the camp, it is very easy to see families of elephants, giraffes, buffalo, etc. up close. You can spend a long time simply watching the animals eat and interact with each other and with other species. I never thought we would be able to get so close to the animals. Taranguire Park is a beautiful place to visit, with the opportunity to enjoy herds of elephants bathing. |Our guide was Zinaida, an exceptional professional who did everything possible to ensure we saw lions up close, and she succeeded! She also took us to see a beautiful sunset among the baobab trees. ||Our days in Tanzania were wonderful, I have no other word to describe it. Entara's organization and planning were impeccable, everything went perfectly, without any problems or setbacks on a trip that took us to three camps with transfers by jeep and light aircraft. The camps are more than comfortable, integrated into nature. You won't see any materials that aren't natural, and the food is delicious, with special care taken for food intolerances, in our case gluten and dairy. The staff's attention was impeccable. The game drives are done in open jeeps, which is wonderful. |We loved the trip planning, Olkeri, Kisima Ngeda, and Olmara, 10 days. Our trip was a family trip with our young...
Read moreThis was our first stop on our first safari, and Olkeri exceeded all our expectations for views, community, comfort, and all-around joy. ||The team, led by Emmanuel, is comprised of enthusiastic professionals who clearly enjoy their work and welcoming visitors. Hendrix, our primary point of contact, is joyful and accommodating. These two professionals, along with the rest of the team, made us feel like friends from the moment we arrived. ||The tents are semi-permanent structures with hot water, flushing toilets, a sitting area, and a porch. Views of the bush and a watering hole, where we saw an elephant one evening. Supremely comfortable and homey, including coffee delivery to the tent in the morning and turndown service. Our tent had the added feature of being across a small gully traversed by a wood + rope suspension bridge. Beyond charming!||The location cannot be beat. We saw wildlife all along the drive to-and-from camp each day. Giraffes and zebras and Cape buffalo. There was even a pair of lions and their kill 15 minutes from camp one morning. It was a real privilege to watch the cycle of life over the course of a few days, with hyenas replacing the lions, then vultures finishing clean up. ||Speaking of food, the staff graciously accommodated my vegetarian request, and baked a cake for my husband’s birthday. Tons of food in great variety. Our compliments to the chef. ||Don’t miss this...
