Where do I start… Rhotia is an experience… the location, the staff, Mieke with all her African stories. It’s all overwhelming. The best part of it all, is that the lodge is linked to the children orphanage. It feels nice that a big part of the amount you are paying at the lodge, goed directly to the orphanage. We went to Rhotia with 2 families. Our 2 daughters had a work experience abroad from school and it was a great opportunity to help a little bit at the orphanage and at school. Also the location of Rhotia is great. Just have an hour away from the beautiful Ngorongoro crater. We had the best safari ever. It’s absolutely stunning and we saw so many animals. All trips, transfers ans safaris are taken care of by Mieke Asha and their staff. Including lunchboxes. The tents and cabins are so comfy and cosy with great beds and a hot shower. Enough space for a family of 4! And the food; food is great at Rhotia and not to mention; enough!! You will not be hungry here! During breakfast nice options of eggs any style, pancakes, fresh juices and fresh fruits. Lunch is a nice dish of the day and during dinner there is a 3 course menu. You can choose from 2 starters, maindishes and deserts. From ossobucco till curry. It all tastes great!! The mainlodge feesl warm and cosy wit nice candles and fireplace. Perfect to have a drink, but ofcourse the deck with stunning views is a nice option as well. To end this review; we loved Rhotia. Not only for the beautiful location and “the African experience” but also for the friendly and real people who work overthere and do such a nice job. A big thanks to all of you and a soecial thanks to Asha and Mieke. Rhotia was not just a vacation for us, but a complete African experience with so much more… We will never forget this and we will...
Read moreWe stayed here June 2024 for 2 nights as part of our safari honeymoon. As other reviews have said the road to and from the lodge isn’t perfect. It is not dangerous just more uncomfortable and takes a while to get there (30 mins from the main road) as you have to drive a lot slower. However it doesn’t justify a 1 star review just because of the road. You are in Africa! And the roads aren’t perfect but you have a sense on this road that you are about to arrive at a hidden gem on the top of the valley. First of all the welcome is lovely with the staff, towel and a welcome drink. It seems they have done a recent refurb of the restaurant and it is very charming and comfortable with an excellent view over the valley. Our tented lodge was a brilliant size with a comfortable bed all the bugs were kept outside! We sat outside the restaurant for a drink and admired sunset whilst a lovely gentleman (think his name was Wilson?) served our drinks. This was our honeymoon so it made it extra special when we arrived at our table and it had been covered in flowers and set up beautifully. It was a really nice touch. The service was amazing but the food was phenomenal!! The chef here really deserves recognition because everything really tasted and was cooked perfectly. Thank you so much to all at Rhotia Valley. We would definitely recommend staying here and we would...
Read moreA friend booked our 3-night stay at Rhotia Lodge. We had been really busy and hadn't looked at the details of where we were staying so it was a complete delight, far beyond our expectations when we found ourselves in the most fabulous location with breath taking views. We were met with a very warm welcome and shown to our wooden lodge (C1). Absolutely stunning, beautifully laid out, immaculate, again with the views, complete with veranda and outside bathtub. ||All of the staff were excellent; charming, attentive and really good at their jobs. ||The food was delicious and the lunch boxes for safari were great. We enjoyed coming back at the end of the day and having a drink on the terrace, enjoying the tranquillity before supper. ||When we discovered the story of Rhotia Valley Tented Lodge & Children’s Home we were lost for words. How wonderful that not only can you stay in a beautiful lodge, but it is actually seriously changing the lives of so many children and young people. Please do check out Rhotia Valley’s website for the details. ||Rhoita Lodge is perfectly located; we visited Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater & Lake Manyara during our stay. ||We cannot recommend Mieke and her team at Rhotia Valley Lodge highly enough. Truly is a magical place and a...
