Wow…..”Paradise on Earth” was what I was thinking only arriving and seeing the entrance and the Lake. It took me out of all the stress and everyday live and transmitted relax and wellbeing. More authentic Africa is not possible. All materials are from local providers, almost all is handcrafted locally. Sustainability is not only marketing, the lodge has its own Garden so all fruit and vegetables come directly from the field to the table. everything is spacious and submits tranquility. A huge terrace with views on the lake, the Infinity Pool and 2 old Baobab trees that are illuminated at night, perfect place to hang out for a drink or a real fantastic Cappuccino ……open kitchen where tasty tanzanian food is cooked and served, special mention: the soups……sooo yummy no matter which vegetable is used. The Rooms: all are round and a tribute to the typical Massai Boma‘s, they have names of the animals instead of numbers. All have the same simple yet luxurious style, are spacious, hand made local wood and materials, super cozy beds. Perfect Wi-Fi in all the lodge and rooms (for those who cannot live without internet or need to work). Then the infinity pool ….what a wonderful spot to relax after a long safari day and just look at the lake, the Riftey valley mountains behind, waving to the Massai kids guiding the cows back home with a drink in your hand served by the Pool Bar. Entertainment with a local artistic group every night, worth to watch, participate and they are happy about a tip of course as this is their income. As we spent in total 8 nights in the lodge we tested everthing, so I must mention there is a SPA where Helen works her magic, sooo worth it. There are 3 bathtubes outside the SPA where you can enjoy the sunset with a drink in your hand. And finally the Cherry on the already perfect ice cream cup that makes the stay unforgettable: the Staff. There are not enough words to describe their heartwarming friendliness. All of them will do everything they can to make you feel welcome and special. Can this be real?… yes it can! So, Asante Sana to all of you! I promise...
Read moreSuricata Boma Lodge is an absolute gem — worth every bit of the hype. Although my safari company classified it as “mid-range,” it felt like luxury.
The sunset views overlooking Lake Manyara are breathtaking. Staff were warm and professional, and I never felt uncomfortable as a solo traveler. Zachary, in particular, deserves special recognition — he remembered my name, made me feel welcome without being overbearing, and showed the kind of genuine hospitality that makes a stay memorable. Give that man a raise and have him train staff on how to interact with guests!
The food was incredible, the rooms spacious and comfortable, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and there were modern conveniences like credit card payment, a gift shop, and tap-to-pay at the bar. I slept so well here.
My only note is that it’s not the best base lodging if you’re heading to Ngorongoro or Serengeti the next day, since you’ll arrive to those parks late due to the distance, but that is no fault of the lodging and depends on the itinerary your tour company arranges. But if you’re visiting Tarangire or Lake Manyara, this lodge is a must. USB ports in the rooms also would...
Read moreMy family, some friends and I stayed in the Suricata Boma Lodge for ten days in the beginning of September 2023 and we were all amazed by the place. The view (especially during sunset), the food, the pool, the bungalows/rooms, the spa, the baobabs and the professionalism of the staff exceeded every expectation we had. Instead of booking a five day safari with Suricata Safaris like most people do, we opted for day trips to Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro, Lake Natron and Lake Eyasi to be able to keep the lodge as our base for our entire stay in the north of Tanzania. Therefore we got to really experience the special energy of the place and everyone working there. It is obvious how much thought and care went into the architecture and design of the main building and the bungalows. Every part of the lodge is decorated tastefully and maintained perfectly. The staff is very welcoming and communicative but at the same time respectful of everyone’s privacy and needs. If possible, you should definitely stay at Suricata Boma Lodge for at least one or two nights during your trip. It is so...
